Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:: I am an ENERGY STAR business partner and a professor at Lansing Community College in the Alternative Energy Engineering Technology program.

What excites you about this campaign?: Long term economic transformation and the effects of an updated infrastructure.

What do you want to do to help?: Deliver local presentations. I am also often called to the state legislature to testify regarding energy policies. The state Senate is currently debating our state RPS. I am also doing consulting work for both of the major utility providers in the state.

At 3:39pm on December 28, 2008, Daar Fisher said…: Hi Matt, I'm the state Internal Communication Director for the Michigan FairTax Assn which works "hand in glove" with goals of the Pickens Plan because by REPLACING the Michigan income tax, families and businesses will have additional disposable monthly income to make energy improvements to their homes and businesses.

How will passage of a MI FairTax do this? It will REPLACE the income tax and current sales tax, with a consumption tax (sales tax at point of retail sale). This means that no more state tax will be withheld from Michigan wage-earners' paychecks. What's more, every Michigan resident-family will receive a monthly "prebate" check, in amount based on family size. This will ensure that NO Michigan family will EVEN BEGIN paying the MI FairTax on goods / services unless, or until, they exceed poverty-level spending. The MI FairTax rate is 0% on all monthly spending to the poverty level; thereafter it's 9.75%. The average effective rate will be around 5.5% (see p.2 of pdf brochure). BTW, Michigan: I just posted an article on my page about Home Wind Systems in Michigan. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "soft policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. You should read that article, important.

(2) In addition to political support and action, I encourage you to consider a Personal Energy Plan in which you take control of your electricity by using home energy systems. That's what I do for a living, help people with their own home systems. I will be glad to help you and answer any questions. This might be a rather awkward intro to who I am, what my goals are to assist the Pickens Plan, and how to possibly take things to the next level, but here goes. When you get some time, please check out my recent comments, Page, Blogs, etc. Also, be sure to add me to your Friends list.

I have developed some rather "unique" supplemental solutions to the Pickens Plan that I like to call "Outside-the-Box" prolutions (progressive solutions). One prolution is the creation of a "technology border" which literally takes us in a different but complimentary direction to the Pickens Plan. I'm trying to gain as much support as possible for that initiative as well as some other ideas I have through a rather creative political approach (I really don't expect to win ... unless miracles still happen); maybe you can assist on that end in future months. The other prolution is what I am actually trying to launch my start-up business on, BDB Industries, LLC. Suffice it to say, it is potentially a viable solution to several national issues, particularly in helping to reduce overall petrochemical fuel DEMAND and reduce harmful emissions. I hope you have a really open mind, because it is quite "out there" and approaches an energy solution from a completely different perspective. Please feel free to download the documents from my posted Discussions, forward them to anyone you think might be interested, and send me back your comments. I can use all the media and political support possible. It’s my believe that this website collaborative can and will derive a multitude of energy solutions, and possibly so much more!

I have been conversing with some of the major volunteers on this site (See My Friends list). They certainly are valuable and dedicated resources for the "Pickens Army". In fact, most people I have encountered thus far on this site are extremely excited about the Pickens Plan and have a real desire to contribute in whatever capacity.
