Hi Meg,

At my page there is many posts about Net Metering and how it's a policy being abused to hold back people with Personal Energy Plans. many of us are not waiting for big wind, natural gas, or anything else, we have taken our energy into our own hands. BUT, almost every state has policy makers and so called "regulators" who are placing limits on home generation through the government policy that is (supposed to) support and encourage same.

WHY is it that several states have no policy at all? Why does virtually every utility run rough shod on consumers by just having their own rules on what we can/can't do? Why do they cap our capacity at .05% or less in many states etc. While Obama and McCain would parrot the big contributors of a hollow unproven technology like "clean coal" in the national debate, they say and know nothing of how to actually let the public fix the problem. It's home generation and Net Metering, the biggest most important thing needed.... Completely unknown and ignored in the public policy debate. WTF?

We started a group here. Net Metering, help us, join us, learn about what we are talking about. I've been beating this drum for months and could not get a response from policy makers of either campaign. Because they and all our government officials at state and national levels are in the pocket of Big Utilities IMO. We, who put our money where our mouth is, to exact a zero footprint with our electricity would be stifled by this lack of national net metering standards.
We have green power NOW, home by home, block by block.

Hi Meg,
I like what you are doing. Are you familiar with Geo Thermal or Ground Source Heat Pumps? I Believe this is an overlooked source of alternative energy. Overlooked because the utilities would not have electricity being fed through net metering into the grid. By utilizing the stored energy of the Earth we can reduce a buildings heating and cooling energy consumption by as much as 75% and without using any fossil fuels. It is an alternative energy source because for every unit of energy (electricity) used to run the equipment we can get 4-5 units of energy from the earth. I think we need as many viable options to get off foreign oil as we can find. Please check my web site www.RadiantComfort-Heat.com and tell me your thoughts. Thanks, Ron

I have been out pounding the bricks and pressing the flesh so to speak. I e-mailed my first petition into myenergy this week and I must say it wasn't that hard to do. Some people are very negative and feel like nothing they do or say will make a difference. I have told them that if they are a mushroom on the sidelines doing nothing that they are in fact part of the problem. Now if they get up off their butts and participate in change they will in fact become part of the solution. There is strength in numbers and a positive approach to solutions will conquer all of our challenges large or small.

Get ER Done

Hello Meg,

I also sent this message via your private e-mail.

Monte Smith, a friend of mine on the Picken's Plan, told me that I should get in touch with you. He left the following excerpt from your page, "I'm interested in talking to people are developing alternative energy plans. Got a good idea? Know someone who does? Tell me your story! I'll be traveling all over the US for my documentary in the coming months, talking to people just like you! Send your info to the address below and I'll let you know when I'll be in your area!"

For the past thirty years I have been developing what I call SEE (Super Energy Efficient) housing. This is not an "Alternative" energy, but a significant way to "SAVE" on U.S. energy use. Building new and converting older housing to SEE standards is easier than one might think and has the potential to cutback on U.S. energy use by over 20% - - yes over twenty percent! Individual homes can see their space heating energy needs cut by 75% or more. In addition, this will 1) cutback on U.S. greenhouse gas production by over 20%, 2) save individual adopters large sums of money, and 3) help save the U.S. economy both in the short-term and long-term. Believe it or not, the money that individual adopters save will more than cover the additional cost of building new or converting older homes to SEE standards.

Can I interest you in finding out more about this new, alternative "non-energy" concept? I think that it will readily fit into the theme of your documentary, if not warrant a documentary of its own!

I hope to hear from you soon , so that I can tell you more about SEE housing.

Very Sincerely,
Thomas Peterson

Meg,

GEOTHERMAL SEEMS TO BE ONE OF THE WAYS TO GO

1979 Partial meltdown of nuclear reactor at Three Mile Island, Pennsyvania

1980 Solar One proves that solar thermal power for electricity is feasible

1980 Geothermal power plants established in a number of western U.S. locations

1981 Hawaii's geothermal plant at Puna goes on line

1983 Three out of every four power plants in U.S. burn fossil fuels

1984 Mushroom growing using geothermal begins in Oregon

1985 Geothermal power plants produce about 2000 MW of electricity

1986 Worst nuclear meltdown with nuclear fallout occurs at Chernobyl, Ukraine

1987 Geothermal water used for extraction of gold, Nevada

1990 U.S. installed geothermal capacity reaches 3000 MW

1992 Nearly 6,000 MW of electricity being generated from geothermal in 21 countries

2000 Worldwide over 8,000 MW of electricity and over 15,000 MW of thermal energy being produced from geothermal

Howdy Meg!

I'm a Film Actor, presently "stuck" in the Mid-West.
I've an extremely inventive thought process. recently as Christmas Day was brainstorming on how to improve Wind Turbine Applications. Struck on using salvaged, Jet engines as the PERFECT Machines. Could be Power Assisted w/HOH, or NG!
Please review my POST at:

And my ReformAutos Group!!!

Happy Holidays!

PS: Current Prop Type Wind Turbines could also benefit with the addition, Retro-Fit, of a Ram Cone in front of the Prop Assembly, whould require additionally mounting. And of a Turbo Fan , behind the Prop, capturing more wind energy and increasing R.P.M., while the Prop produces Torque.
The Assemply, Prop., & Fan could be painted an un-natural wild fowl repelling color so as to alert birds to advoid!!!

Meg,

I am pleased to meet you. Please check my page out and see if the collaboration I am proposing, seems like a good plan? I need ALL the help I can get to make this plan a reality.

Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I'm a filmmaker, currently residing in LA. I'm originally from the beautiful town of Williamsport, PA, which has recently been hit by the natural gas boom. I believe that a large natural gas reserve is pivotal as we begin to experiment with renewable resources. However, without the commitment to drill responsibly, these communities and environments are left damaged forever.

I am currently working on a documentary depicting the irreversible hazards of negligent gas drilling practices entitled, "FEAST OR FAMINE: THE HUNT FOR NATURAL GAS." My film is committed to the support and education of the communities that have been spotlighted for immediate natural gas production, specifically the Marcellus Shale in Pennsylvania, as well as those states that have weathered the storm for many years. Education is pivotal in establishing a proper outline and resource for all communities who will shoulder the natural gas production in this crucial time. With the proper industry regulations and incentives, coupled with the education of the residents and landowners, a harmonious collaboration can coexist. I believe in a healthy energy plan.

To access more info about my documentary, please go to:

What excites you about this campaign?
SOLUTIONS! I find this campaign full of integrity and hope. Many people have signed up, forming a grass-roots coalition. I've been advertisements all over cable and the web. T. Boone Pickens is someone I'd like to showcase in my documentary because of his positive campaign for SOLUTIONS!
What do you want to do to help?
I want to help get the message out! To push for CHANGE NOW!

AND by featuring T. Boone Pickens (and associates) in my film, to promote his pivotal cause and to reach out to so many viewers in a highly informative medium. I feel it would be an excellent opportunity for Pickens to get his message out to millions of curious minds.

ALSO, I'm interested in talking to people are developing alternative energy plans. Got a good idea? Know someone who does? Tell me your story! I'll be traveling all over the US for my documentary in the coming months, talking to people just like you! Send your info to the address below and I'll let you know when I'll be in your area!
