Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
In the interest of full disclosure, I have no experience with alternative energy, but I do earn a substantial amount of my income from a royalty interest in a natural gas field in Loredo, TX. But, aside from my obvious financial interest, I do believe that we need to care for the planet and become the great self sufficient nation we once were.
What excites you about this campaign?
I wholeheartedly agree that we need to get away from foreign oil for the good of our country. I have always admired Mr. Pickens, my father was an oil man, and I always heard him say that Mr. Pickens was a stand up guy.

I don't think Dad's testimony before the Senate did much, but it was the very beginning of this movement & so it played its part.
Thank-you for your involvement.

Melissa,
Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT) is a patented technology where travel occurs without air friction or rolling resistance (like “Space Travel on Earth”); ETT can accomplish 50 times more transportation per kWh (or carbon credit) than electric cars or trains. ETT is silent, low cost, safe, faster than jets, and is electric so it can make maximum use of wind or PV power. I invite you to visit my page to learn more about ETT

Hi Melissa,
Thanks for the note. I'm still a little confused though. According to this ( http://www.naturalgas.org/environment/naturalgas.asp ) natural gas does emit greenhouse gases when burned. It is certainly cleanER, but not completely clean, if I understand this article.

The problem as I see it is that the carbon dioxide produced by the combustion of natural gas is the carbon that was trapped when the original organic matter was laid down eons ago. So even though it's just a relatively small amount, it is adding to the cumulative amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere... whereas biodiesels are taking current carbon dioxide into burnable fuel form, then releasing it back into the atmosphere: a zero sum increase in the earth's atmosphere.

The problem with biodiesels at this point is that they do burn dirtier than natural gas. However, they are not increasing the total amount of CO2 the way natural gas does.

What's the overall effect taking all of this into consideration? I don't know. I believe that steps are being taken to reduce the amount of harmful gases that biodiesel engines are emitting, but like anything, it will take time.

Again, thanks for your input.

Join us at Carbon Neutral as we move forward with our plans to Flip a City.

Vacant Buildings - Holyoke

Download the pdf (4 MB) and get a sense of where we have to start.

Then watch us grow and implement a plan to install grid tied solar pv systems on all rooftops, and most importantly, bring an entire City back to life as Carbon Free as possible.
