Decorah area Pickens Planners are welcome to attend a town gathering to celebrate the progressive investment that Luther College has made in a Nieghborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) as well as a CNG vehicle. This unique chance to experience Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and NEV vehicles will start with Rich Tenneson, Facilities Manager at Luther College talking about their fine efforts in attaining the reduced carbon footprint that is President Torgersen's commitment. That will be foloowed by a 15-minute video, "Journey to the ZONE". Be prepared to ask questions and get involved in the gathering with both a Columbia MEGA NEV produced in Reedsburg, Wisconsin and a Honda Civic GX CNG produced in East Liberty, Ohio . Hi Michael!

So glad you are still here, friend!

Our window of golden opportunity is narrowing. We must put in a really hard push to build this army to a size that will beat back the lobbyists and special interests. We are so close to a complete paradigm shift of thought on energy in this country, let's clinch the deal! What will it take 10, 20 million? We can do it!

Petitons are the answer! I find it easiest to download one pledge, cut off Boone's lines and add a sheet of lined paper under the pledge instead. I put NAME - ADDRESS - EMAIL across the top and fill in the first line to set the format. Most find it easier to sign where others have already done so, rather than the single pledge at a time approach. Everyone understands a petition. The word "pledge" is scarier. I say, "Would you sign this petition in support of T, Boone Pickens energy plan to get us off of foreign oil?" Simple and hard to not agree with! Hand them the clipboard. It works.

The best results are with folks who put themselves where there are lots of people, and somehow draw attention to themselves, so they have to do less cold solicitiation. Some used signs, some buttons, some hats and visors. Check out the 100CLUB group page to see how others have accomplished the task. (it is the first goup on my page, so you don't have to go looking for it)

There are over 150 people in the pledge challenge, that I know of. Surely, there are many more, as it is mentioned in many greetings. Those 150 willl bring 15,000 new members. If each brings just 5 friends, these 150 will be responsible for 75,000 new members.

This is the approach that works best for me - I tried many. Hopefully, this will encourage you to take the challenge, too. ARE YOU IN?

Notes:

1. I do not require the signer to give their email if they are reticent. Don't let that be a deal breaker - some just do not want to give it.

2. When you send/fax in 100, let me know, we will invite you to be a member of the 100CLUB! Your leadership on this will inspire thousands!

I hope you can find the feelings that you had when you first saw this plan and signed up to help. When you looked at it and said, WOW, we could really get this turned around!

Best
Kim

No worries Michael! I wasn't a big computer person for a while either. But sooner or later it gets you! Since you are clearly pro-active in the need for more renewable energy resources, I'd love for you to take a look at this other new plan im involved with. It's a non-profit organization called We Can Power The World! I truly is an amazing foundation and their plan to power the entire world with renewable energy is actually do-able! So if you have an extra minute please take a moment a check out www.wecanpowertheworld.org

Thanks!

Michael,

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining the Pickens Plan. Just wanted to let you know that a real person out here appreciates you taking that first step.

We are busy preparing resources for you to get started. My page has a few links that you might find useful. There are countless others who would gladly accept your help and provide you with any help you might need.

After you've had a chance to settle in, please let me know if there's anything I can do to guide your path. The basic first steps are reviewing the current topics in the Forum, and when you are comfortable, letting others know about the website. The people here are interested in making the plan a success and those you invite should be able to see for themselves that this is the right place to be.

An informative video "Topeka, Kansas Town Hall Meeting"

Other steps you might consider:

Many are:
- working their contacts to increase press and blog coverage.
- writing to their congressional representaves and senators.
- calling Congress at (202)225-3121 and asking if they support renewable energy in 10 years.
- asking people in the public eye to speak out on behalf of ending dependance on foreign oil.
- writing letters to the editor of their local paper(s).
- downloading flyers and plastering their cars and businesses.
- turning their companies, large and small towards building wind turbines and solar panels.
- starting investment firms for the purpose of investing in these companies.
- telling everyone they know about the site and the plan.

Decide for yourself what you can do, but definitely do something - large or small.

Welcome once again and thanks for signing up.
