- I have never had any experience with alternative energy except solar for hot water but as a truck driver I have seen many wind farms
- What excites you about this campaign?
- We need help to survive in these days of high fuel costs and if there is a way to use green energy that is cheaper we need to do it. Also no more oil from other countrys who are getting rich on our hard earned money.

- I would put a sign in my yard and a bumper sticker on my truck and cars

About to go under, why is Diesel still more?? O YA because they can
Well its been a while but im back. Nice to see gas and diesel prices going down but it is still wrong that diesel is so high. Then I read an artical that said OPEC to cut production to drive up oil prices. I think that should be illegal, now that massive numbers of trucking companys are going under ( myself soon I fear ) maybe we should bring the whole US to a stand still until we get some help too and not haul any freight. ( IE everythig you need and buy comes on trucks )

Under the FairTax plan, points of collection are reduced to retailers many of whom are already collecting sales tax. Because service providers must account for income tax withholding and compliance costs, their prices carry a hidden tax which will become visible under the MI FairTax. (The MI FairTax EXCLUDES business-to-business purchases as this would, again, hide the cost of taxation in prices.)
Because of the prebate to ALL Michigan-resident households, the MI FairTax rate would effectively be 0% on all monthly family spending to the poverty level; thereafter it's 9.75%. The average effective rate will be around 5.5% (see p.2 of pdf brochure).

Thank You all who have responded to my post. I feel that now is the time to fix our energy problem, and to do that we need to start at the Government level. We have a say and we have rights, so lets get together and take a stand and fix it.
I was like you - unsure how to help organize then I had a realization: the BEST way to help organize is to spread the word. I discuss these issues everyday with my teenage stepchildren, with my stepmother, with friends, family, even just strangers in line at the grocery store. It's surprising how most people are concerned about these issues but rarely begin the conversation themselves. If everyone invites just 5 of their friends to join us here it will help T. Boone Pickens to get our unified message in front of Congress and get our concerns addressed.
$700 BILLION PER YEAR
Big oil profits are unconscionable and oil futures speculators have pushed oil prices into territory that is disastrous for the long term health of the US economy. We are transferring $700 billion each year to unstable and antagonistic regimes. Americans are angry and ready as never before, to take dramatic steps to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. A plan for ending our dependence on foreign oil has appeared on the horizon and surprisingly it comes from an oil man but he happens to be a patriotic American.

with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. From your own experience you know it is very much like simply signing a petition. The larger our membership the more likely we will be successful in getting Congress to provide effective incentives for alternative and renewable energies and in insuring that our future president will treat energy independence as a matter of the greatest urgency, applying the same kind of leadership as JFK exercised when he led us with his stirring challenge to put a man on the moon in 10 years.
THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to think that we could be looking back and apologizing to our children that we chose not to get this done when we had the chance.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Write to your Congressman/woman. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan. Print downloadable flyers and put them in your car and/or business window.
I am reminded of an ancient admonition,
“Work while it is day for the night is coming when no man can work.”
