Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Familiar with Cape Wind's proposal to put Wind Farm in Nantucket Bay. Read and watch as much as possible about alternatives to oil and preferably all fossil fuels.
What excites you about this campaign?
That finally an oil man has spoken out and admitted we can't drill or buy our way out of this dilemma by drilling more oil wells. T Bone Pickens has the connections and will to unite many different people to focus on most likley the most important challenge of our lifetimes.
What do you want to do to help?
I will help to communicate to others to get them paying attention and introducing them to idea that there are alternatives available, we don't have to give up on solving this problem and if enough people work together a solution can be found.
Donate time and money.

Being an un-geek, I'm not sure how to manuever through all this site. But I would like to help. It's our civic duty.

I was wondering--how much does it cost to retrofit a car for use of natural gas? When I last listened to an interview by T Boone Pickens he said that moving the "fleets" to natural gas is plausible right now. I don't think he had a time line for automobiles. I am not an energy expert, however, I would expect we are not going to achieve what is needed until we can get autos to use natural gas or other alternative fuels.
Therefore, if retrofitting for natural gas was within reasonable $$ limits for gasoline engines, rather than waiting until all new cars are available that burn natural gas, retrofitting our existing cars may bring reduction in gas that much closer. It might even be feasible for the US Gov, us, to offer tax incentives to retrofit our cars.
NEW MEMBERS: Thanks for joining...Please do a good deed today before you have a chance to forget or get busy with other things! Pickens can't singlehandedly solve the problem of the $700B outflow to pay for foreign oil. That is why he is asking each member to sign up 5 others members on the Pickens Plan. Surely you know at least five other people that would support a real plan to reduce our dependence on foreign oil NOW... please take this to heart; the survival of our leadership position in the world and our economic prosperity at home is at stake – please contact your friends, family, neighbors and our legislators today.
PS. If Pickens succeeds all forms of alternative energy will benefit from this movement. He has a workable, achievable plan. All viable AE solutions will get a huge boost if the Plan can reach 1M members in 2008.

If you know someone in the press- get them to cover this.
If you know someone who blogs- get them to cover this.
If you can write to a Congressman/woman- get them to understand this.
If you know someone who is in the public eye- ask them to support this.
On the Pickens Plan web page click on Community, then click on Groups, then on Communications Support - Resources for Members. Here you will find a wealth of ideas, suggestions, sample letters to Congress, useful links etc.
We all share the same goal; to rid ourselves of foreign oil and clean up our environment for our children and grandchildren. Wind energy is a viable alternative. Some of us have a different ideas of what we can do for immediate relief.
Join some groups, get involved and invite some of your friends to join you.
Check out our group "Live Carbon Free" and see how we are promoting conservation and environmental stewardship as the bridge to future energy developments. Regardless of what we do, it will take some time to implement on a significant scale. For immediate results we can make a huge difference by conserving what we have.
We would like for you to join our group and value your input. Feel free to add me as a friend..
Welcome and THANK YOU for joining the Pickens Plan. Just wanted to let you know that a real person out here appreciates you taking that first step.
We are busy preparing resources for you to get started. My page has a few links that you might find useful. There are countless others who would gladly accept your help and provide you with any help you might need.
After you've had a chance to settle in, please let me know if there's anything I can do to guide your path. The basic first steps are reviewing the current topics in the Forum, and when you are comfortable, letting others know about the website. The people here are interested in making the plan a success and those you invite should be able to see for themselves that this is the right place to be.
- Some are working their contacts to increase press and blog coverage.
- Some are writing to their congressional representaves and senators.
- Some are calling Congress at (202)225-3121 and asking if they support renewable energy in 10 years.
- Some are asking people in the public eye to speak out on behalf of ending foreign oil dependance.
- Some are writing letters to the editor of their local paper(s).
- Some are downloading flyers and plastering their cars and businesses.
- Some are turning their companies, large and small towards building wind turbines.
- Some are starting investment firms for the purpose of investing in these companies.
- Almost everyone is telling others that they know about the site and the plan.
Decide for yourself what you can do, but definitely do something - large or small.
