Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
The Big Island is the most advanced island in terms of researching and developing alternative energy. We currently use wind and solar in many areas and this is where the Natural Energy Lab has made its home.
What excites you about this campaign?
Straight talk for a serious problem.
What do you want to do to help?
I am a Realtor here in Hawaii and at ease speaking in public. I have worked on non-profit boards and because of psychology as a major in college can usually get straight to the point and turn it into a win-win proposition. Any place that you feel I would be of best use is right where I want to be!

Congressman Abercrombie’s aides and the managers of the Volcano event will not allow us (a group of Pickens Volunteers) to meet with him for a video or photo Op. at the May 2nd event.
So I don’t feel it’s worth our traveling to Volcano and hanging around on the chance that we’ll ‘accidentally’ bump into him.
Thanks for your consideration, there’ll be an opportunity to meet with State House Rep. Denny Coffman (Vice Chair - Energy & Environment Com., member Finance Com. & Majority Caucus) in Kona during the Hawaiian Legislature’s mid term recess.
The date for a Pickens group to meet Congressman Neil Abercrombie is set, May 2nd. In Volcano Hawaii.
The time is still not certain, and my videographer friend has a problem with nerves in his neck so there’s still some details that needs to be address.
The leadership at the SUMMIT MEETING of the National Clean Energy Project agreed that “Building” The smart grid is the first step on the road to reducing our dependence on foreign oil.
For Hawaii this means building the key element of the HCEI Agreement:
THE SUBMARINE POWER CABLE - TO GRID THE ISLANDS.
TELL THEM TO MAKE THIS PROJECT THEIR # 1 GOAL FOR 2009!

The Governor’s West Hawai‘i Community Advisory Council will meet on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawai‘i Authority (NELHA) Gateway Center, at 73-4460 Queen Ka‘ahumanu Highway #101 in Kailua-Kona.
The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m.
Please make an effort to attend, and plan to arrive at 5 PM to assist in passing out PLEDGE SIGN UP SHEETS.
Ted Peck, energy administrator, Strategic Industries Division from the Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism will discuss the Lingle-Aiona Administration’s work to achieve energy independence through the Hawai‘i Clean Energy Initiative (HCEI). The HCEI, a partnership between the State of Hawai‘i and the U.S. Department of Energy, in collaboration with Hawaiian Electric companies, the business and academic sectors, the Legislature, the counties, the military and the community, seeks to move Hawai‘i toward having 70 percent of its energy use come from clean energy sources by 2030.
Friday, February 20, 2009 there will be a MALAMA OBAMA RALLY in the main Pavilion at Old Airport. The date was chosen because it is one year and one day from the 2008 Hawaiian Caucus when Obama’s strong support surprised, and almost overwhelmed party workers.
The speaker will be Hawaii Congressman Neil Abercrombie. Local legend has it that he was the first Congressman to come out and support Obama.
There will be tables for topics Obama advocated during the campaign. I have secured one for Pickens under the topic of “Renewable Energy”. Participants will circulate among these, dialoging with knowledge members of the community. The table groups will formulate issue statements about things that need changing and how Obama should change them.
These will be communicated to Abercrombie who will take them back to Washington.
I plan to have a Pickens power point presentation running on my lap top, Pledge /sign up sheets, business cards etc.
Please make every effort to be there!
WE NEED A MAXIMUM EFFORT ON THIS ONE!
If you can afford it, buy a Pickens hat or tee shirt.
Tomorrow night, Tuesday, February 10th, I will have a table for the Pickens Volunteers at the Old Airport Pavilion for the Kona Community Enterprise Town Meeting.
The meeting starts at 6 PM.
Please join us and help recruit new members for the Pickens cause and enlighten our neighbors about the US energy situation.
