Hello and Happy Holidays to you and yours. I just want to let you know that we are organizing the New Energy Army by Congressional District so we can take action locally to make energy independence for America a reality. Please follow this link to join our group for the Congressional District TX 01
Our Goals as a group:
• Work with other members of the New Energy Army in your Congressional District
to set a goal of signing up 500 new members by Inauguration Day 2009.
• Host meet‐ups with other members of the Army in your Congressional District to
discuss ways you can take action and Push the Pickens Plan.
• Get an op‐ed or letter to the editor placed in your local newspaper telling everyone
why you support the Pickens Plan.
• If your Governor, U.S. Senators and U.S. Representative have not yet signed the
Pickens Plan Pledge, then ask them to sign today! Visit
http://www.pickensplan.com/district‐leaderboard to find out if your elected
officials have signed the pledge.
Hi Patrick……thank you for joining! Education is the key to knowledge, but where do we start? After you familiarize yourself with the information at this website, a wealth of additional information is available. We can look to Europe as our inspirational model for developing sustainable renewable energy. Countries like Denmark, Germany and Spain lead the way in this effort and have been there for the past 10-20 years - even more. Germany’s commitment through cooperatives and local municipalities has installed 19,000+ wind turbines and millions of solar collectors, both for solar hot water and electricity feeding the power grid.
The onshore and offshore installation of wind turbines in Denmark and Germany are producing 20% of all their electrical needs; in Spain, as much as 38% (please see examples in the photos on my page). We are 10 years behind in implementation compared to these countries!
I mention these examples to give us a direction for inspiration and point to where we could be heading with the Pickens Plan. The technology is already there and we do not have to reinvent the wheel. These are a few of the websites I would suggest you visit to see what others around the world have done and are doing:
1) The Solar Village – Freiburg, Germany. See: http://www.thesolarvillage.com/
Watch the video in the upper left corner of the page. It tells a great story.
2) The Folkecenter for Renewable Energy – Denmark.
See: http://www.folkecenter.net/gb/overview/publications/
Under VARIOUS, read: The transition from Fossil Fuels to the Renewable Energies
The whole website is excellent and you could spend hours there.
3) Google: Samso, Denmark. This is an island off the coast of Denmark that is completely self-sustaining. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/07/080707fa_fact_kolbert
4) Read the article written by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. titled: “Global Warming: A Real Solution”
Here are a few great videos to see: “Saved by the Sun” a PBS NOVA video, and “A Crude Awakening” by Basil Gemlpke, et al. Americans need to mobilize and pressure our government representatives both on the state and national level. The Pickens Plan is a good place to foster discussion and share ideas and PUSH this plan! We can all share in this vital common cause. Good luck in your quest for a better more secure America….. Please ask 5 of your friends to join the “PLAN”……> Lee Ewald
We all share the same goal; to rid ourselves of foreign oil and clean up our environment for our children and grandchildren. Wind energy is a viable alternative. Some of us have a different ideas of what we can do for immediate relief.
Join some groups, get involved and invite some of your friends to join you.
Check out our group "Live Carbon Free" and see how we are promoting conservation and environmental stewardship as the bridge to future energy developments. Regardless of what we do, it will take some time to implement on a significant scale. For immediate results we can make a huge difference by conserving what we have.
We would like for you to join our group and value your input. Feel free to add me as a friend..
Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have very little experience with alternative energy. I have heard of most of the different kinds of alternatives available, I believe almost everyone has heard of the alternative energy sources, but no one has stepped up to the plate to create a plan like this one.
What excites you about this campaign?
I am excited about this plan because I believe this can be the plan that allows the United States of America to rediscover our independence. America is slowly crippling itself by simply giving away money to other countries. I believe that our addiction to foreign oil is what is crippling our economy. Not only will our economy benefit, but we will also be improving the environment. This plan is not the long-term solution, but this plan is the only way we will ever find a real solution without doing more damage.
What do you want to do to help?
I want to be heard by the government. I want them to know that I support this plan. If enough people believe in this plan and the government has a way to hear that "we the people" want this plan to be put into place, I beleive that America can be on the right track to recovery.
