Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
August 10, 2009: If you live in ALABAMA and would like a more ACTIVE ROLE in the campaign, or feel that you have a unique insight that may help the cause, PLEASE SEND ME A FRIEND REQUEST indicating such. We currently have an opening for District 3 Leader and may need more leaders in the weeks to come. It is my intention for our great state to LEAD this charge rather than sit on the sidelines!
What excites you about this campaign?
That people are getting themselves involved in a common cause and helping each other to affect change in our society.
What do you want to do to help?
As AL leader, I would like to make it easier for everyone of us to help one another, so that this movement can build real momentum. I realize the south takes great pride in tradition, but times now demand a more honest perspective. We are following the path of folly, and only the voice of reason can help us. Reason demands change, immense and immediate. I imagine an Alabama that spearheads this movement for change throughout the country. I know such an Alabama can exist. It is up to each of us. A world of our own making is within our grasp. We have but to make our voices heard, and perhaps saying it WILL make it so.

Dear Mr. Bohannon:
Thank you for contacting me regarding the New Alternative Transportation to Give Americans Solutions Act (S. 1408), which would create a program to conduct research, development, and demonstration on natural gas vehicles.
As you may know, I believe that investment in new sources of energy proven to work such as natural gas, nuclear power, wind, and biofuels is worthy of support. We should support the research and actual use of alternate energy sources and technologies such as solar and clean coal, hybrids, and plug-in electric vehicles, and create a new, cheaper, and safer nuclear power plant model that can be affordably replicated around the country. As such, I am actively engaged in promoting nuclear energy, developing cellulosic (wood switchgrass) ethanol, diesel enhancement, plug-in hybrids, coal-to-liquid, and expanded production in America. Specific to your concerns, new power sources such as nuclear power and wind could be used to offset the natural gas we currently bum for electricity. The excess gas could be used to cleanly and cheaply power our automobiles, displacing imports of foreign oil.
S. 1408 was introduced by Senator Robert Menendez on July 8, 2009, and is currently pending before the Senate Committee on Finance. This legislation would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow an excise tax credit through 2027 for alternative fuels and fuel mixtures involving compressed or liquefied natural gas (LNG). S. 1408 would allow through 2027, an income tax credit and a tax credit for the production of vehicles powered by these alternative fuels. It would also modify the credit percentage available, and extend and increase the investment .ax c:Iedii fUi natural gas ur LNu re[ut:iing stations. i ul1l.krstand tnar this Issue is impuriant to yOU, and I assure you I will keep your thoughts in mind as this measure progresses through the legislative process.

Dear Mr. Bohannon:
Thank you for cvntactino In~ r garding rcncvv-abte energy.
As you may know, environmental and climate change matters are important to me. As a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, I work hard to stay informed on energy and climate issues, especially with regard to Alabama. I believe we have a responsibility to protect our environment by using proven scientific methods that do not unnecessarily drive up costs for our citizens or jeopardize economic growth.
As such, I believe that investment in new sources of energy proven to work such as nuclear power, wind and biofuels is worthy of support. We should support the research and actual use of alternate energy sources and technologies such as solar and clean coal,

Specific to your concerns, the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources
is currently working on comprehensive energy legislation. At a hearing on May 21, 2009, the Committee voted on whether or notto cpntinue working_on a Renewable Electricity Standard (RES). I do not support a national RES, because without the technology being ready, these standards will place unnecessary economic stress on the American people through high energy costs.

Dear Mr. Bohannon:
and I agree that the current energy crisis threatens our families, our national security, our environment, and our economy.
I belie e that if we are truly going to limit carbon emissions while also generating sufficient affordable energy to keep our economy strong, we must, as a nation, embark on an "Apollo Project" to develop new energy production technologies.
Technology will be the key to opening the door to progress. I believe that investment in new sources of energy proven to work such as nuclear power, wind, and biofue1s is worthy of support. We should support the research and actual use of alternate energy sources and technologies such as solar and clean coal, hybrids, and plug-in electric vehicles, and, create a new, cheaper, and safer nuclear power plant model that can be affordably replicated around the country. As such, r am actively engaged in promoting nuclear energy, developing cellulosic (wood, switchgrass) ethanol, diesel enhancement, plug-in hybrids, coal-to-liquid, and expanded production in America. Our nation is facing a crisis and we must act boldly.
The United States also has significant reserves of oil here at home. Producing these reserves would bring more oil to the global market and help lower the price. In addition, producin!! more oil here at home would keep American income in the U.S., create jobs, and would reduce the amount of money we send to countrIes like Saudi Arabia and Venezuela.
You may be pleased to know that Congress passed a Continuing Resolution (H.R. 2638) that was signed into law on September 30, 2008, that allows for exploration and production in the Outer Continental Shelf and Gulf of Mexico. The Department of Interior estimates that this area contains approximately 85.8 billion barrels of oil and of these, 44.9 billion barrels are estimated to be in the Gulf of Mexico. H.R.2638 also repeals a moratorium on oil shale production on federal lands put in place by the Democratic Congress. Approximately 800 billion barrels of this domestic resource are recoverable using existing technology. I share many of your concerns regarding these high energy prices, and I realize the significant impact that they have on Alabama's families and small businesses.

AN OPEN LETTER TO CONGRESSMAN BOBBY BRIGHT:

Congressman Bright, et al...

Greetings from Sand Mountain, Alabama. I am Paul Bohannon, AL State Leader for the Pickens Plan initiative. I am contacting your office today in the hope that I can persuade you to sign on to support our plan. There is substantial support building for the plan in Washington and several members of both the House and the Senate, including the Majority Leader, are already proud supporters. As you may already know, we import almost 70% of the fuel we use on a daily basis. This cannot be safe, practical, or expeditious.
For the good of future generations we must act now to ensure the long-term survival of our way of life. Currently, there is no way to assure us of this fact. We are at the mercy of foreign nationals. The Pickens Plan provides a substantial first step towards long-term energy independence for our nation. I URGE YOU to please consider voicing your support of this initiative as soon as you return to Washington, and show the people you represent that in you they have a strong and certain champion. This is your opportunity to make a real difference in the future lives of not just your constituents but of every man, woman, and child in the country.
We must begin our long journey to a new world energy order in the same way that every other great and lasting transition in our nations history has begun: a single, simple act. A declaration of intent for your support of the Pickens Plan could prove to be that step, or at the very least one of many steps in our long journey.
Please, Congressman, for the sake of every American and every American to come, I ask you today to step up.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any further need. With warmest regards, I thank you in advance for your serious consideration of this issue.

Thank you,

Paul Bohannon
Pickens Plan Alabama State Leader.

SUCH A GASBAG IS SAXBY CHAMBLISS :

Such a gasbag is Saxby Chambliss. Willing, nay eager, to trade away many millions of our precious dollars for his evening in the sun. And let us not be so naive that we cannot all acknowledge that the aerospace industry will - no doubt - insure a sunny future indeed for their favorite employee on the hill.
A hill that once served as a symbol for hope to the entire world, but is now blatantly exposed for what it has become - a disfunctional anthill. An anthill complete with its own revolving colony of worker politicians, each scurrying through the maze to reach the juicy prize stored at its center. Nibbling off as much as they can stomach they gorge on the prize until they are forced to leave, then they carry huge chunks of the prize with them when they go.
And who supplies this tasty prize the insects love so well? We do, of course! It is our tax dollars that form this chewy wad of dough upon which the politisects feed, the tricky treat that motivates such bad behavior amongst these naughty drones.
By rights their job as ants in this hill is a different one. They are charged with the resposibility of distributing the big wad of dough to all of the other ants, rationing available resources equally amongst all their fellows: surely the most fair and noble of all insectual pursuits. But this anthill has gone bad, it has turned. The ants here are corrupt, and have replaced the noble pursuit with the easy dough. They have learned that there is no one there to stop them from taking the dough for themselves.
In fact there are other ants, powerful ants, insisting that this is the way the hill works best and saying that the other ants should all just learn to take responsibility for themselves. So they abandon their oaths to their fellow ants, embracing this new system of legalized bribery and deceit and in so doing forever tarnish the legacy they were charged with protecting.
Pity the misguided worker ants, like Saxby Chambliss and his ilk. For soon there may come a time when those ants whose trust they have betrayed WILL learn - at long last - to take responsibility for themselves!

Free Alternative Energy Available Now !

America Continues to Waste over 70% of the Energy it Consumes.
100's of millions of lights unnecessarily burn during the day and night, over heating and over cooling is the norm, over packaging, inadequate recycling, toxic landfills, horrendous road congestion, and our perverted obsession with road construction. Public and Private buildings, Schools, Churches, Homes, ... America's blatant energy waste and overuse is culturally pervasive, and abominable !

1- ONLY with a substantial and tangible economic reward/consequence will most Americans care to conserve.
Crude oil must be taxed at $200 per barrel and offset by making income tax begin at $60k.
Taxing energy is simple, fair, economically sound, and available TODAY.
2- The American auto industry must quickly transition to the 6.4 BILLION people reason$ to manufacture solar, wind, and other alternative energy producers. They already have the needed infrastructure. Every home and building in the world, could be using solar energy. We are fast running out of fossil fuels !

Humanity is racing toward extinction, via global warming, for our failure to stop our energy waste.
Taxing energy (in lieu of income taxes) is the ONLY incentive that will stop energy waste and cause renewable energy sources to be employed.
