Hello there, my name is Steve Sexton. I posted an article about energy independence for American industry at www.vocgen.wordpress.com.”
I want to share the article with Americans concerned about our energy situation.
I hope you enjoy the article and find it encouraging.
All the best,
Steve Sexton
I do not have any solar appliances, are you satisfied with the solar oven?
Was thinking about a solar hot water heater, though the start up cot is high.
Could use more public transportation, in Fla. I do agree that the transportation factor uses up our natural resources at a finominal rate. I never had an suv,
but my friends were shocked when they were paying $100. a fill up.
Good Luck on your endeavors. Palm City Fran

Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have been driving a Prius for almost 3 years now. I saw this coming, and took some steps to mitigate, but not as many I should have. I was stuck somewhere between complacency and panic, worrying about my teenagers and finishing a Master's degree as much as world oil supply. I did not sell my house when I should have, and am now stuck, like so many others. OK, now what? Living in urban area where most of the people still drive SUVs, I see possibilities for a sustainable future if we can open some minds. Now that they are opening their wallets to $100 tanks of gas, I think the mind is a logical next step.
I spend the extra $10 a month on my electric bill to use solar energy. I have a solar oven. I limit trips to necessary ones. My experience with altenative energy is not nearly what I would like it to be, because of lack or cost of alternatives.
What excites you about this campaign?
We can build a sustainable future. The solution is not new sources of oil, but new sources of energy.
Pickens touts natural gas vehicles, which will be a good addition to the smorgasbord of alternatives necessary in the transition from petroleum to other sources of energy. I do believe that plug-in hybrids are a more viable solution, however, since the infrastructure is already in place. I am focusing on transportation since 70% of the oil we use in the US goes to transportation. Transportation is issue #1, then power generation. I am excited that we are finally beginning to wake up!
What do you want to do to help?
I want to get others thinking: what steps can they take now to get us on the road to energy independence?
