Hi Peter!

Happy New Year. Glad to see you are still here. Just ran into you on a friends page. We met months ago.

Please watch Boone's video if you have not seen it yet (link below) and see how far we have come. When will we ever have a chance like this again to become energy independant before we give this country away?

Our new Congress is sworn in less than 10 days from now - they must be told loudly and clearly that we demand action to reduce our dependance on foreign oil!

WE CAN DO THIS. We need your help. THERE IS NO INFLUENCE WITHOUT NUMBERS!

Please watch the latest amazing "Boone Cam" recap:

Please download the petition, get them filled in and fax them back fast. If all of us do this small thing we can build this effort to millions!

Best and Happiest!

Hi Peter,

I just happened to come across you on Tony's page so I thought I would pay you a visit. And I'm glad that I did.

Peter, I want to encourage you to visit the
Artists Round-Up group that is more of a roster than it is a group. And if you're so inclined please feel free to sign in.

This is an appended version of what I left at Tosha's page ... I guess if I get into this "preachy" mode it should go here ... sorry.

On Leaving a Better World for the Next Generation

I was always brought up to believe that we are not the owners of this marvelous planet but have merely been entrusted with the care-taking of it while living; something which we have failed quite prolifically at, if I may say (though I doubt that really needs to be said). Our inheritance - our legacy - is what we leave for those who come after us, and it is our responsibility to leave this planet - the ONE single place in the universe that we know can sustain our species (water on Mars notwithstanding) - in a better place than it was when we took over management.

If we really want to demonstrate how serious we are about "changing" things - if we really want to leave a "better" world for the children of tomorrow - than it is going to take a great deal more than changing our consumption of fossil fuels, it is going to take a paradigm shift in the way the west lives and consumes. This is never a popular argument, but it is difficult to counter when you consider the proportion of the population represented by North America and the percentage of World Consumption that we suck in as though the supply were endless. Consider this: the United States and Canada, two countries that represent about 300 or so million inhabitants, has as its "suppliers" for goods the largest nations in the world - China, India, Pakistan, ... and the list goes on. Yes, we export out goods as well, but we are net importers of consumer items - cheap consumer goods that are made in Third World nations by underpaid workers.

How does this help the world? Would you like your children or anyone else's kids working in some clothing factory in order to satisfy the cravings of some consumer on the other side of the world - making clothes that you will never be able to afford to wear? The truth is brutal, horrible, ugly and ... above all, available to anyone who is interested in seeing it - all you have to do is look - and then be prepared to act, for once we are aware of something we become accountable to that knowledge, we can no longer use the excuse "I didn't know," or, "I had no idea this was going on". The alarms have been sounded: documentaries have been made, papers have been published and testimonies have been given; our lifestyles are killing the poorest peoples of the world as well as the world. Change must begin now.

Thank you for the compliment, Luis - as for the rss syndication, I'm a bit embarrassed to say that my Internet savvy is rather limited to being able to maintain my blog (which is done at a rather slow pace). I've never been able to get into the techie stuff too much - things like rss feeds have eluded me (I don't subscribe to them either).

If you have any suggestions, however, I would welcome them ... I really don't have any idea as to where to start with the process.

Thanks and take care,
Amsel.

Peter you're a wonderful writer. Have you ever considered rss feed syndication?

Hi Luis, Perhaps it was an unfortunate choice of words for a writer ... :-) No, I'm surprised as to how much activity there is on this site. It is encouraging in the sense that perhaps (God help us all) some of the political apathy that has settled over our nations (I am Canadian, but my parents were both American, so I am very interested in the issues ... not to mention living in Canada is like living next to a four-thousand pound gorilla - you cannot help but take note of what your neighbour is doing - everything they do has an effect upon you [and no, I am NOT changing the spelling of 'neighboUr' simply to satisfy an American spell-checker]), will be shaken off by these acts and result in something truly positive happening; vox populi - let the voices of the people be heard.

We have to get the message out that this is not about an 'energy crisis' in the sense that we are 'running out' of energy - there is a tremendous amount of energy to be had, IF you have the WILL and foresight to HARNESS that energy. As others have said, Mr Pickens has not really said much that is new - save for the depth of his plan - it is the fact that he has spent his life on the other side of the fence as an oilman - serving the 'evil empire' if you will - that makes this so remarkable - and that he is putting his money where his mouth is. Credibility comes when someone is willing to back an idea with the capital that it will take to demonstrate that the idea is feasible: Pickens is doing just that and that is what makes this so exciting.

I can already see the Canadian Prairies filled with wind turbines ... and wheat. Beautiful.

Take care,
Amsel

Most of us are in here to network and learn. I’m a graphic designer and pro net-worker. I just launched a website called http:/www.greenecotools.com to capitalize on a few green devices. A few of us will start blogging soon. Please feel free to send me anything you have. I will take a closer look at your site later. Keep me posted!

Hello Peter,

I’m a new member of the Pickens’ plan and just wanted to reach out and say hello. I’m familiarizing myself with our website and reading as much as I can about alternative energy. Again hello and nice to meet you!

Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
No
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I am a very strong proponent for the use of rechargeable batteries wherever possible and use mass transportation rather than a motor vehicle (which I do not own) - but my preferred for of transportation is walking, zero emission!
What excites you about this campaign?
The forward thinking elements of the plan and the fact that it is totally unencumbered by elements of partisan politics, something that tends to spoil the best political ideas and initiatives these days. There have already been two wars (at least) fought over oil in the past several years, enough is enough - so long as we are addicted to this substance it will be easy to pull us into these contrived conflicts (regardless of how they are recast by the politicians) in order to ensure a continuous supply of crude.
What do you want to do to help?
I am a writer and I would love to help by writing about some of the diverse issues encompassing this plan. The resistance that shall come, particularly from those who are unable to see past their addictions to the black gold that flows from the sand, will not be based on logical arguments but rather on impassioned rhetoric that can only be addressed with reasoned responses (if said responses are read at all) that effectively communicates the fundamentals of the plan.

The Christmas Post

As we enter the final push into the Christmas madness that comes over the continent of North America for a time, when people travel "home for the holidays", purchase gifts (often on credit), drive out of their way to find that elusive gift for someone special (or someone not, just because it is Christmas or they have to take something to a party), let us reflect upon the true cost of this season. Without entering into a discussion of the spiritual elements of this holiday and the "true" meaning… Continue
