As we enter the final push into the Christmas madness that comes over the continent of North America for a time, when people travel "home for the holidays", purchase gifts (often on credit), drive out of their way to find that elusive gift for someone special (or someone not, just because it is Christmas or they have to take something to a party), let us reflect upon the true cost of this season. Without entering into a discussion of the spiritual elements of this holiday and the "true" meaning…

Happy New Year. Glad to see you are still here. Just ran into you on a friends page. We met months ago.
Please watch Boone's video if you have not seen it yet (link below) and see how far we have come. When will we ever have a chance like this again to become energy independant before we give this country away?
Our new Congress is sworn in less than 10 days from now - they must be told loudly and clearly that we demand action to reduce our dependance on foreign oil!
WE CAN DO THIS. We need your help. THERE IS NO INFLUENCE WITHOUT NUMBERS!
Please watch the latest amazing "Boone Cam" recap:

Please download the petition, get them filled in and fax them back fast. If all of us do this small thing we can build this effort to millions!

On Leaving a Better World for the Next Generation
I was always brought up to believe that we are not the owners of this marvelous planet but have merely been entrusted with the care-taking of it while living; something which we have failed quite prolifically at, if I may say (though I doubt that really needs to be said). Our inheritance - our legacy - is what we leave for those who come after us, and it is our responsibility to leave this planet - the ONE single place in the universe that we know can sustain our species (water on Mars notwithstanding) - in a better place than it was when we took over management.
If we really want to demonstrate how serious we are about "changing" things - if we really want to leave a "better" world for the children of tomorrow - than it is going to take a great deal more than changing our consumption of fossil fuels, it is going to take a paradigm shift in the way the west lives and consumes. This is never a popular argument, but it is difficult to counter when you consider the proportion of the population represented by North America and the percentage of World Consumption that we suck in as though the supply were endless. Consider this: the United States and Canada, two countries that represent about 300 or so million inhabitants, has as its "suppliers" for goods the largest nations in the world - China, India, Pakistan, ... and the list goes on. Yes, we export out goods as well, but we are net importers of consumer items - cheap consumer goods that are made in Third World nations by underpaid workers.
How does this help the world? Would you like your children or anyone else's kids working in some clothing factory in order to satisfy the cravings of some consumer on the other side of the world - making clothes that you will never be able to afford to wear? The truth is brutal, horrible, ugly and ... above all, available to anyone who is interested in seeing it - all you have to do is look - and then be prepared to act, for once we are aware of something we become accountable to that knowledge, we can no longer use the excuse "I didn't know," or, "I had no idea this was going on". The alarms have been sounded: documentaries have been made, papers have been published and testimonies have been given; our lifestyles are killing the poorest peoples of the world as well as the world. Change must begin now.
Amsel (aka CrazyComposer), Out.
If you have any suggestions, however, I would welcome them ... I really don't have any idea as to where to start with the process.
Thanks and take care,
Amsel.
We have to get the message out that this is not about an 'energy crisis' in the sense that we are 'running out' of energy - there is a tremendous amount of energy to be had, IF you have the WILL and foresight to HARNESS that energy. As others have said, Mr Pickens has not really said much that is new - save for the depth of his plan - it is the fact that he has spent his life on the other side of the fence as an oilman - serving the 'evil empire' if you will - that makes this so remarkable - and that he is putting his money where his mouth is. Credibility comes when someone is willing to back an idea with the capital that it will take to demonstrate that the idea is feasible: Pickens is doing just that and that is what makes this so exciting.
I can already see the Canadian Prairies filled with wind turbines ... and wheat. Beautiful.
Take care,
Amsel

I’m a new member of the Pickens’ plan and just wanted to reach out and say hello. I’m familiarizing myself with our website and reading as much as I can about alternative energy. Again hello and nice to meet you!
