Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Became somewhat educated about solar energy in the late 80's-early 90's via classes and seminars as well as designing a passive solar home that I built as a contractor. Numerous other involvements to today including xeriscaping in FL.
What excites you about this campaign?
We have no choice for ourselves and our descendants. Finally, someone with the clout of a T. Boone Pickens realizes the need of such a program!
What do you want to do to help?
Anything I can from speaking to churches and other groups on the need to stewardship of God's green earth to selling T-shirts with profits to the campaign.

The New Preamble to the Constitution

The following has been attributed to State Representative Mitchell Kaye from GA.

'We the sensible people of the United States, in an attempt to help
everyone get along, restore some semblance of justice, avoid more riots,
keep our nation safe, promote positive behavior, and secure the blessings
of debt-free liberty to ourselves and our great-great-great-grandchildren,
hereby try one more time to ordain and establish some common sense
guidelines for the terminally whiny and delusional.

ARTICLE I: You do not have the right to a new car, big screen TV, or any
other form of wealth. More power to you if you can legally acquire them,
but no one is guaranteeing anything.

ARTICLE II: You do not have the right to never be offended. This country
is based on freedom, and that means freedom for everyone -- not just you!
You may leave the room, turn the channel, express a different opinion,
etc.; but the world is full of idiots, and probably always will be.

ARTICLE III: You do not have the right to be free from harm. If you stick
a screwdriver in your eye, learn to be more careful; do not expect the
tool manufacturer to make you and all your relatives independently
wealthy.

ARTICLE IV: You do not have the right to free food and housing. Americans
are the most charitable people to be found, and will gladly help anyone in
need, but we are quickly growing weary of subsidizing generation after
generation of professional couch potatoes who achieve nothing more than
the creation of another generation of professional couch potatoes. (This
one is my pet peeve...get an education and go to work....don't expect
everyone else to take care of you!)

ARTICLE V: You do not have the right to free health care. That would be
nice, but from the looks of public housing, we're just not interested in
public health care.

ARTICLE VI: You do not have the right to physically harm other people. If
you kidnap, rape, intentionally maim, or kill someone, don't be surprised
if the rest of us want to see you fry in the electric chair.

ARTICLE VII: You do not have the right to the possessions of others. If
you rob, cheat, or coerce away the goods or services of other citizens,
don't be surprised if the rest of us get together and lock you away in a
place where you still won't have the right to a big screen color TV or a
life of leisure.

ARTICLE VIII: You do not have the right to a job. All of us sure want you
to have a job, and will gladly help you along in hard times, but we expect
you to take advantage of the opportunities of education and vocational
training laid before you to make yourself useful. (AMEN!)

ARTICLE IX: You do not have the right to happiness. Being an American
means that you have the right to PURSUE happiness, which by the way, is a
lot easier if you are unencumbered by an over abundance of idiotic laws
created by those of you who were confused by the Bill of Rights.

ARTICLE X: This is an English speaking country. We don't care where you
are from, English is our language. Learn it or go back to wherever you
came from!

ARTICLE XI: This country was founded on the belief in one true God. And yet,
you are given the freedom to believe in any religion, any faith, or no
faith at all; with no fear of persecution. The phrase IN GOD WE TRUST is
part of our heritage and history, and if you are uncomfortable with it,
TOUGH!

I vote for the new preamble to the Constitution.

Tell me, do you think there is a chance in heck the big oil companies would ALLOW U.S. consumers to use wind, solar and natural gas alternatives? If so, I guess a lot of their lobbyists would be out of a job in Washington. I have an MBA in Health care Management and my backgound is in laboratory Science and we have our lobbyists in Washington too and they are a necessary ---evil, but they seem to have unlimited budgets to work with.

The oil companies continue to make huge profits and I can't see them going down without a fight. They can't even cut the American public slack during this economic crisis we are in -- (why is diesel almost $4.70 a gallon when it takes less refining than regular gas)?. I lived in Berlin for several years while my ex was stationed in the Army and I know gas has always been high over there. That's why we aren't over there... Why can't we use American oil and convert to alternate sources that use less oil now?! People complain but nothing gets done. I drive to and from work and a tank of gas lasts 2 weeks for me now. What else can we do?

Reggie, what are some of the goals would you like to see pursued? I am hoping to find common areas of interest relating to solar installations, do-it yourself installations, etc. I was hoping to find a group of people that could pull together an assortment of skills and knowledge that would allow more of us to pursue alternative energy for our homes without waiting on the government OR spending money we do not have. Lots of things can be done - educating home-owners on energy monitoring to cut costs, how the average home-owner can get PV installed without a 25 year payback, etc. Looking forward to further discussions.

Good Afternoon from Honduras. You know it is not just a U.S.A problem it is a world wide problem. 93 octane here is $4.86 cents per gallon. Prices follow you where ever you go. 3rd world doesn't mean a thing at the gas pump.
