T. Boone Pickens is a Republican. R-Arnold Swartzenager was scheduled to participate in the summit, but had to decline at the last minute due the illness of Eunice Shriver and the prison riot in California last weekend.

Mr. Keane--
It does not matter if they were Democrats or Republicans. Politics has nothing to do with this subject. The matter being addressed is energy independence from mid east oil and the influence that being slaves to that oil has on our lives.
Put aside your political bias and look at what is best for the country.

Maybe because progressives want progress and reactionary/conservatives would rather look to the past and long for the "good ol' days?"
