Robert,

Did you ever have any success in getting insurance for your LNG/gasoline car?

Unfortunately for the short term now propane might be your only option in NJ. There are some projects in work to finally bring the first public access CNG fueling stations to NJ, however the initial plans for those would still be further than practical from Princeton. There used to be a company called fuelmaker that made a home filling CNG appliance that a homeowner could install in their garage and fuel their vehicle by compressing the natural gas from the utility service. Unfortunately Fuelmaker went under so getting one of these "Phill" appliances is next to impossible now. The good news is that Fuelmaker's technology was purchased by another company and hopefully they can do a better job of building these devices for the market going forward.

Compressed biogas is extremely exciting. If you ultimately are able to pull off compressing from a bioreactor that would be a project we would want to recognize and show off. Please keep me posted.

Robert, I am so sorry for not responding earlier! The Pickens Plan message to me must have gotten caught in my spam filter. I hope you were able to resolve your problem and look forward to hearing your experience. I applaud you for your CNG investment. I am also interested to know what your plans were for fueling it.

Robert,

Your personal situation aside, it caused me to do some research. I found that Allstate will insure after market converted vehicles but only to the value of the original price. This was better news than what you were told but still not as good as I wanted. Thanks for posting, it brought to light yet another issue for our industry that needs to be improved.
