Hello Everyone!
I just wanted to comment on the passing of the climate bill by the House yesterday. This is the meat & bones of the new economy & it is crucial to the future of our country that they get all the details right. It will be an uphill...
Hello Everyone,
Has anyone else had problems submitting e-mails to Congress & President Obama through the Virtual March website? For some reason my zip code (28512) shows that it is out of the constituency and I have not been able to submit any e...
Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have been searching for answers to the events of September 11, 2001 for the past 7 years and have come to the conclusion that our dependence on foreign oil is mostly to blame. After reading the "Hirsch Report" in 2006 I began to understand the political, economic and military occurances of late and realize that we must devise a plan to mitigate the negative effects of peak oil ASAP.
What excites you about this campaign?
I am absolutely estatic that Mr. Pickens has taken the initiative to organize this campaign. It inspires me that there are people like T. Boone Pickens, Robert Friedland, Matthew Simmons and Dr. Randell Mills who understand our energy situation and are doing something about it. What needs to happen next is for the American people and our elected leaders to get involved and work with these men to develop an effective energy plan NOW!
What do you want to do to help?
ANYTHING POSSIBLE! I am an out of work (under employed) airline pilot looking for a new cause and a new direction. Energy independence is a most worthy cause and I want to be a working part of designing and building our nation's energy infrastructure for the 21st century and beyond.

Hello Robert,
I am new to the area, just moved to the Outerbanks from Virginia in January. I have been a member of the Pickens Plan since July 2008. The Engergy Summit on Monday was fantastic. Good news for everyone. Good luck to the group.

I just joined. I reside in Dare County in N.C. I hope I can be of some help. I also am trying to lease my 90+ acres down here to be used in wind generated energy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. If you have any needs yourself, kindly send me a note, and I will do my best.
Hi Robert,
Can't promise I will be there in the AM at the flea mall, but will try. Brrrr, it sure is cold. Oh well, could be in Rochester..it's 5 degrees there this morning.

Hi Robert!
Pleasure to meet you. Congratulations on leading a successful North Carolina district. If you or anyone in your group has gathered 100 or more new supporters, will you please inform me, so we can invite them into the 100CLUB? Their success and stories will inspire and motivate others. Ideas that work need to be shared!
THANK YOU, Robert
Best

I have posted a letter on the district leader page that has worked tremendously well for recruiting new members. Feel free to borrow it. There are a few others that are trying it and also reporting a similar surge in numbers!
Hello Robert,
I just heard about this group and I'm happy to hear that others are just as eager about getting the word out about the Pickens Plan as I am.
Robert: I envy your committment but not your situation. Unemployed due to cutbacks?...energy costs? Whatever. I've been passively watching the "Pickens" movement for 6 months, have e-mailed Walter Jones, and am cheering from the sidelines. My day to day comittments will not afford a lot of time for orginizational efforts, but here is my motivation. I'm a recent transplant to Jax, NC, from Denver. I've been working in the Jax community for 2 1/2 years. I've met and worked for many military families...and have come to appreciate their sacriface, pain and burdensome demands. I often times drive by Marine convoys and say to myself, that kid driving that Humvee ain't old enough to have a license. The youlfellness of the men and women who we ask to serve in our defense, is sobering. I'm not well versed in the goe-political plans of our civilian government but I do know that, more often than not, we, as a country, are committing our blood and treasure to "protect" our foreign interests that, coincidentally, revolve around oil. Political realty dictates that any grass roots movement must have a broad appeal. Environmental issues aside, (of which I don't want put aside), all Americans (Republicans, Democrats and Independents) should be able to rally around the concept of freeing America of dependence on foreing oil. How that message is transmitted is, I guess, the challange of local groups.
I've known of Mr Pickens since the early 70's. I insured oil field contractors and he was always one of the real players in the industry. His credibility is unimpeachable (even if he does own vast reserves of natural gas).
Let me know how I can help. Regards, Joe Martin, Branch Mgr., Paul Davis Restoration, Jacksonville, NC.
Hi Robert,
Have you looked at a Congressional District map? I have, and to say the least I'm confused becasue some othe the counties in District 1 and District 3 overlap. If you are interested in looking go to www.govtrack.us/congress/findyourreps.xpd?state=NC.
I have written a letter to the editor of the Wilson Daily Times promoting the Pickens Plan and I have several other newspapers that I will be sending the letter to. I am telling you this so you won't think I am trying to step on anybodys toes. If you would like to see or use the letter, just let me know. It is a compliation of of two letters, one from Oaklahoma DL-OK1, Oregon DL-OR5, and some info from the Pickens plan.
