Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have always been ecologically minded. I recycle, I heated my home with wood exclusively for ten years and loved it.(not to mention the money it saved me). I ride a bicyle mostly for fun but it keeps me from riding around all day burning gas. I am in the process of making a solar cooker (just to test it's viability and practicality) I am planning to build a new home and it will be super insulated and solar assisted as much as possible given today's technology. I have read and studied this stuff for years.I began studying things like this in the early 70's and have continued to do so as a hobby since then. I grew up with a copy of the Mother Earth News in my hand and continued to be very interrested in that sort of stuff even after it ceased to be cool.
What excites you about this campaign?
What excites me most is that someone of influence has finally spoken and is being heard. This is a real crisis with far reaching and multifacited ramifications which will affect everyone forever.I don't think the average person out there can really appreciate just how serious this is. This is not something that might happen some day. It's on us now and will continue to get worse. This want just go away. We have to make it happen. I think it boils down to a matter of priorities ,prudence, and just plain good econonic sense. I would much rather do something now while we are under advisement than to be forced to do something later when we are under the gun so to speak. In terms of priorities, I understand that our government has desires to spend unimmaginable amounts of money to shoot a man to Mars. That's all well and good but I think it would be far more benefiscial to spend that money and scientific wherewithall to fix this energy crisis now. Mars, I feel sure, will still be there. So will this energy crisis. We can reap the benefits of actions to correct the energy crisis now. Let's go to mars later . In terms of economy, just imagine the jobs that would be created if we were to go at this thing full throttle. How about stabalizing the stock market by insulating it from the jitters caused by the price of a barrel of oil. And wouldn't we all benefit if our manufactured goods were once again compeditively priced due to an abundant supply of affordably energy. So that being said, I am especially excited that Mr. Pickens who has the knowledge, the clout and the gumption to get it done has taken up this banner. I would be delighted to help in any way I can.
What do you want to do to help?
I don't know. The people organizing this will have to tell me. Let's talk about it. I am very excited about this. I am retired now and have plenty of time to help. I also have some good ideas and would like to discuss them with someone. I just don't know how to get hooked into the loop on this . I am not a "tree hugger" or political radical or anything of that nature. I am just an ordinary Joe Blow that has seen the handwriting on the wall. I'd love to help. Contact me please.
