Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Have recently constructed my own home utilizing artesian well to power two ground-source heat pumps . This system is incredibly efficient at using residual heat of the earth itself to condition my domain. My post-Katrina generator is optimized for biodiesel and vegetable oil as fuels.
I have created plans and procured the materials to build a wood-fired retort/incinerator with which to produce hardwood charcoal as I burn my neighborhood's combustible trash!
What excites you about this campaign?
The possibility that it may help to make CNG and LPG conversion kits affordable for my pickup trucks. Also, as a professional geoscientist, I am hopeful for the optimization of the petroleum/gas exploration and distribution industries in the Gulf Coast area. I would like to see these businesses help more with coastal restoration as they locate necessary pipelines and refineries.
What do you want to do to help?
I am currently developing new alternative energy applications in the context of my own permaculture-type homestead. At least two of my plans will be amenable to use anywhere in the world. I would like to help other people in actualizing their own sustainable homesteads and/or urban living spaces

Hi Robert,
Looks like you do some oyster raking. I demonstrate it on my cruise trips. I like your well idea. I plan to do something similar on my property. I hope I can beg some ideas off your experience.
Thanks,
Capt. Skip

ROBERT : THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENT . ALTHOUGH MR.PICKENS HAS GREAT IDEAS , AND THE RESOURCES TO
BACK THEM , WE AS A COUNTRY MUST REALIZE (AND I'M SURE MR. PICKENS DOES ), THAT UNTIL THE GOVERNMENT IT SELF COMMITS TO A REAL PLAN TO USE ALTERNATIVE ENERGY WE MIGHT JUST BE LIKE A DOG BARKING AT A PROWLER AND NO ONE IS PAYING ATTENTION TO IT . WE MUST REALIZE THAT FOR THE IMMEDIATE FUTURE WE WILL BE BEHOLDEN TO FOSSIL FUEL . MR. PICKENS POINTS OUT THAT WE CAN'T " DRILL " OUR WAY OUT OF THIS . I BEG TO DIFFER . WE CAN AND WE MUST FOR THE IMMEDIATE SECURITY OF OUR OWN COUNTRY AND FOR OUR OWN ECONOMIC GROWTH .

THANK YOU

I also embrace a permaculture lifestyle, starting small on our 10 acres, I know you are busy but could you post some links about permaculture on Gulf Coast Renewable Energy, so people can understand it and how small changes make for huge benefits in our environment?

Your comment is note worthy . At the present time the focus should be on the simplest energy that will fuel the vehicular industry . Wind is an inexpensive way to bring energy to homes and industry , solar
is yet less expensive . The problem lies in how long it will take to
bring this type of energy to market . There are many oil wells in this country that at the moment are idle , due to governments inaction to activate them and support those that are now operating . This country can no longer stand by , while the environmentalists are concerned about the wilderness , and wildlife . Nature has a way of taking care of its own . How many
eagles , birds , etc have been killed by the windmill ? You would be surprised at the number . We have enough resources in this country to be the energy leader of the world . Calling it the way it is
there are too many lobbyists , and foreign leaders in the pockets of the Washington politicians . These are just my simple comments . Thank you
