THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.
PICKENS U We are recruiting "Campus Coordinators" for colleges and universities to represent the Pickens Plan on campus. Looking for someone who can create a college page on the Pickens Plan site and also on Facebook encouraging folks to sign up for the Pickens Plan.
If you are connected to a college or university in your state, can be a campus coordinator, or can help find a campus coordinater, please let me know so we can get the process rolling.
PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not
1) increase our membership nor
2) influence public policy.
If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan.

Thanks for the lead. I read through it earlier and was impressed by the level of development of the ETT technology. I agree that the Transportation is key to eneergy independence and sustainability. The obvious transition is trucks to rail, cars and aircraft to high speed rail. Urban cars to buses, trolleys and light rail. EET would be an alternative to the long distance rail systems (one for freight and one for people). Because both EET and rail require entirely new infrastructure, EET has little or no additional cost penalty -- just the mind set that mistrusts new technology.
My first impression is that the present design for freight is too small. Containers are well established to for long distance freight. They are essentially the only way ocean freight is handled, and progressively more of out truck traffic uses reailers to haul containers. The thing that makes them difficult to replace is that 1) modal interchange facilities are already in place and 2) there would be an extra cost convert container loads to pallets ( many containers go directly to their destinations.).
Thus, I suspect the EET will need to be redesigned. to carry the 20 x 8 x 8' 6" and the 45 x 8 x 9'6" containers. I recognize the difficulty of this change.would need. As a first guess, all of the costs (design testing, construction and maybe even operating costs) would increase by the cube of the size.

TRANSPORTATION is the master key to basic survival, and the cornerstone of the economy. We all know that transportation presently depends on oil production, and oil production is peaking. We must focus first on transportation – it is the highest priority. The PickensPlan to transition vehicles to natural gas is a great start toward 100% energy independence, but is a stop-gap measure till we can transition to all electric transportation. Electric energy is strained without adding transportation demands; so we must focus on drastic efficiency improvement.
Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT) is a patented technology where travel occurs without air friction or rolling resistance (like “Space Travel on Earth”); ETT can accomplish 50 times more transportation per kWh (or carbon credit) than electric cars or trains. ETT is silent, low cost, safe, faster than jets, a fourth the cost of freeways (yet over 10 times the capacity), and is electric so it can make maximum use of wind or PV power.
