Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Have sailed a small boat and rowed a boat on Puget Sound, used a magnifying glass to start a small fire, built a crystal radio that was powered by the energy of radio transmissions, used the sun and the wind to dry cloths on the line.
What excites you about this campaign?
Less dependence on foreign energy sources and less probability of wars as in Iraq, Afganistan, Georgia. More possibility of stability of energy costs. I like a energy industry insider showing us some leadership on a issue on which he is a obviously a knowledgeable expert.
What do you want to do to help?
I will lobby my federal reps from Washington State. I have already done some of that. Also, I may lobby my state elected officials if it is approapriate. Also, I will inform others with whom I have contact. Currently, the costs of diesel are hurting the trucking and transport industry and by extension driving up the costs of food and supermarket. Therefore, offloading some of our use of diesel for trucking in favor of natural gas might help contain the upward spiral of food costs. Thus, I think most folks are interested in any practical way to contain costs of transportation and food.

I would like to add one more reason to the basket of reasons that T Boone has already mentioned for moving forward with his energy ideas and plans: the huge amount of capital that is sucked out of this nation to pay for imported oil is a huge factor for increases in unemployment not to mention the sucking sounds of the security markets.

Do you remember the market manipulations of the much earlier Standard Oil Corporation? Lower your price and drive out your competitors, then raise your price an… Continue

Hi Ron,

Yes, Florida Atlantic University and University of Florida are utilizing The Gulfstream in testing it as a power supply with excellent preliminary results.

Hi Ron,

I agree with your comment, although a new energy production method will only be accepted by the public if it is as cost competitive as fossil fuels. Our congress decides to subsidize billions of dollars a year to the fossil fuel industry, which is the reason renewable energy has a difficult time competing, if those subsidies stopped renewable energy would be much more cost competitive.

Kim, I don't know where your H.S. is. But, if it is a populated area, then, a less visible(from the ground) set of roof mounted solar electric power generating modules might be another more accepted option. Seattle University has them mounted in full sight on their campus grounds and one building. Kim, in a recent issue of the Wall Street Journal it was mentioned that some of the wind turbines are having stress, balance, and other technical/quality control/engineering problems and are not always meeting advertised performance specifications. As for the success or acceptance of Picken's Plan! Kim, the U.S. Speaker of the House of Representatives has invested in his company: "Clean Energy". So, simple economics means most probably most of what he is promoting will succeed. (G.E. is backed up with orders for wind turbines here in the U.S.) But, I think Gov't owned buildings should be high on the list for taxpayer investment in energy/waste saving technology and we have lots of newer public school buildings/grounds/city&county halls ect.

Hi Ron

A great idea. Our town has been trying to put one at our high school- we have a Federal grant/loan to do it. The sunset on the grant is December and the neighbors are fighting it like crazy. The sooner we get Boone's plan into action and educate evryone to our national crisis, the sooner it will become politically incorect NOT to support a local turbine!

Please friend me so we can keep in touch.

Thanks RonWelcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. We need your help.

There is a perfect storm of events happening right now that create the possibility of a paradigm shift that is urgently needed. We have an angry citizenry due to pain at the pump, a presidential election on the horizon, and a man with a plan to dramatically and imminently reduce our dependance on foreign oil, and provide a bridge to future solutions, who has the resources, contacts, knowledge, wealth and "will" to get it done.

Please share this plan with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. As you know, it is simply like signing a petition. With large numbers of supporters, we can put pressure to bear on Congress to incentivize alternative and renewable energies, and insure that our future president will be a leader that will push for domestic energy solutions. JFK once said. "in the next 10 years we will put a man on the moon". He got it done. We need that kind of leadership on energy.

Time is of the essence. If gas prices retreat the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to be looking back and apologizing to our children that we could not get this done when we had the chance.
