Rudy, my man!
I've just been reading/rereading my emails and such, read over a couple posts on the PickensPlan website, etc..
Man! oh man. I also offer up my thanks for your writing about biobutinol. Like Albert Alejandro, I'd never heard of it before you'd brought it to my attention. Isn't this web-board the most amazing tool for (apparently uncensored) self-expression and sharing of ideas and beliefs? I mean, I doubt very much that John McCain's website or Barak Obama's website would allow comments like Mr. Alejandro's to remain out here where anyone can read them. Here we are, conversing together, sharing freely, just like old pals. And Albert Alejandro says, "Mr. Pickens doesn't truly care about the environment...he is just trying to create a larger market for his natural gas reserves". Them's fighting words. And possibly true. But, isn't it wonderful that Boone has created this environment where Mr. Alejandro can write freely about our benefactor?
I am learning a lot from you and others who have joined the Pickens Plan. Let's hope one of us - one in a million - can come up with some idea, some concept, some invention, some thought that might save the world. Wouldn't that be nice?
Rudy Thank you for informing us on biobutinol. I never heard about it and I'm sure many others haven't heard of it either. I'm going to take your advice and do the research on it. There are many questions I need answered, like what's it made from and what's the cost, any damage to your vehical in the long run, can it be mixed with gas. It sounds good so far.
Mr. Pickens doesn't truly care about the enviroment in my opinion he is just trying to create a larger market for his natural gas reserves since he has a larger supply of gas than oil.
Check out the group Inexpensive Clean Energy there are many useful links in that group. Pickens has a cng company named clean energy and his prices are always highest. If you use the CNGprices link you will find all the cng stations in the country and there prices. The group also has links to legislative directory, find out how much money your rep gets from big oil in campaign contributions, your reps voting history, read the bills for your self, contact congress, gas taxes in your state, energy efficency grants and loans in your state, and more. You can also read on every single 2009 ( hybrid that just came out and find out MPG and horse power and more.
I enjoy researching myself.
Interesting stuff, Rudy! I clipped/pasted that link you gave me & read a bit of what you're up to. I'll be able to comment at length when I return from Cleveland Clinic Wenesday..... Us old timers have to get tuned up from time to time!
One (incorrect political) thought..... I read, somewhere recently, that the spike in temperatures that recently led Al Gore to go on his rampage of blaming CO2 for greenhouse gasses was actually caused by unusually strong storms on the sun. This year, without those storms, things have chilled down a bit. Also, some Scandinavian wrote an article that placed Global Warming way down the list of problems that can be acted on effectively. Maybe we are, in fact, headed for another ice age or to a time where my state (Michigan) becomes a tropical paradise. But, can humans do anything about it? I take a cynical view on this one. Instead of complaining about who might have done what to lead to what might possibly conclude is a global crisis, maybe we should focus on the things we can have an impact on. While I'm being cynical and Randian, heck, let's build a bunch of coal-burning plants so the Chinese can breathe OUR pollution for a change. :[)
Oops. I blame it on the meds. 'catch ya later, Rudy. And I'll take the time to read your whole blog-thing.
I don't think you have anything to apologize for. I think that, like all writers, your thoughts are being shaped all the time. I don't have a problem with it. I think you seem very honest. It's semantics - like strategy and tactics. Now, this thought I just had might be totally off-the-wall and not worthy of passing on. But, how about this? What if Boone just took a whole decks of playing cards (his money, really) and tossed them up in the air to see what happens?
Of course he is a celebrated "oil man" and that "drill, drill, drill" mentatily has made him rich. But, I think a part of him is just like you and me and everyone else who's posting on the PickensPlan website: he's mad as hell and not going to take it anymore. But, none of us, not even Boone, knows at this moment how things are going to shake out. I think he's created a forum for dissatisfied, thinking people who can share and learn together.
Good morning, Rudy.
I woke up to your message today and it was an eye-opener.
I appreciate your thoughts and will most certainly study the options you have put forth. I have been an afficianado without funds of alternate energy systems for thirty years. My greatest personal success stories have been in the realm of passive-solar. In other words, I'll set some dark things in a south-facing window sill. :-)
I appreciate your observation that a drill-exploring team setting out today is likely to provide fuel in 8 or 10 years; but, as I used to council my clients when I worked as a social worker, in 8 or 10 years, we'll have something. Long-range planning, new tactics, and new thinking are desparately needed if we are to continue living the life-styles we have grown to know, love, and count on.
Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. We need you.
$700 BILLION PER YEAR
We are transferring $700 billion each year, 7 trillion in the next 10 years, to unstable and antagonistic regimes. Americans are angry and ready as never before, to take dramatic steps to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. A plan to replace foreign oil with American solutions has appeared on the horizon, we intend to help Pickens turn this hope into reality- energy independance for our country.
SHARE THE PLAN
with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. From your own experience you know it is very much like simply signing a petition. The larger our membership the more likely we will be successful in getting Congress to provide effective incentives for alternative and renewable energies and in insuring that our future president will treat energy independence as a matter of the greatest urgency, applying the same kind of leadership as JFK exercised when he led us with his stirring challenge to put a man on the moon in 10 years. Please take the time today to bring 5 new members to the site.
THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to think that we could be looking back and apologizing to our children that we chose not to get this done when we had the chance.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Write to your Congressman/woman. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan. Print downloadable flyers and put them in your car and/or business window.
YOU MAY FEEL INSIGNIFICANT
Individually, we each feel the same way, but together we will lay the foundation for a stronger, more prosperous and more secure America. Thanks again for joining us in this historical effort!
A GROUP FOR EVERYONE
Check out the Legislation Tracking and Write Congress groups as well as the various groups for Solar, CNG, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.
