No
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I don't have any. But I've refused to learn to drive all my life. Since it's customary to start driving at age 16, I've saved 40 years of gas, plus put no wear and tear on the Interstates. No vast parking lots in far-flung malls had to be built for me. Plus, I'm a vegetarian.
We don't own our house. Is there any sort of tax break for landlords who install alternative energy devices on their properties? Thanks, Sandie
What excites you about this campaign?
Everything! As the mayor of Birmingham Alabama said, "We've been stuck on stupid for too long." It seems to me that coal power drove the 19th century, petroleum drove the 20th, and now renewable clean energy will drive the 21st. Renewable energy creates a cleaner world for everyone--and if the sun quits shining and the wind quits blowing, you'll know that the Earth has been hit by a meteor the size of Jupiter.
What do you want to do to help?
Write! Find ways of saving energy in my own life, and finding ways of using alternative energy right here where I live. I'd like to find out how much money can be made by building and installing wind turbines, because that's the only argument that will appeal to the people in the energy business. I'd be willing to help finance ads that will offset all those damn misleading "clean coal" "clean nuclear" and "we will need -- more energy by the year 20--" ads.
Some people actually think that if drilling were allowed in parts of the US where it's banned now, we will have more oil and gas *tomorrow* instead of *ten years from now*. This idea desperately needs debunking, too.

As a developer who is witness and part of the transition of energy-driven core sectors of economy all over the world, I often hear good-intending Americans brag about how they save energy or money through some sacrifice. They don't drive, they don't eat, they don't have a mortgage, they don't use soaps for clothes or dishes, etc.. Be very careful!
As we transition we must consume or we will be like the world's poorest countries where there are no products, there is no exchange of money, and a free market system as we know does not flourish. The transition must reinforce present and create new economic development. Organic products, soy products, green products including energy sources, must replace what we have built, otherwise we will be a nation of impoverished people who can boast about what we do NOT have. I insist we NOT exchange a value of comfort for austerity when there are smarter ways to be comfortable. Under-development is indeed a state of mind. The old Asian Communists indoctrinated people to endure great suffering and hardship by teaching to honor the endurance of hardship and pain (by placing no cultural value on recognition of personal difficulty and pain). The honorable person was spiritually opposed to material comforts, and society approved of them for their superior value.
Be careful of what groundwork you may lay unknowingly with good intentions.

Sandie,
Thanks for becoming involved with the Pickens Plan.

Pickens Plan is helping Americans see the light when it comes to transportation using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). I am envious of your proximity to CNG refueling in Madison. I refueled my 2007 Honda Civic GX (CNG) at MGE on East Main Street for $1.219 per gallon of gas equivalent (GGE). It is so easy for someone in you area to get involved in the Pickens Plan transportation solution.

We need to work on our movement toward solar and wind for home power as well. And I will be happy to let you know about events in your area that support these efforts. Are you aware of the MREA Energy Fair near Stevens Point in June?

Thanks,

Welcome!
Here's how you can help.

PLEASE email the Pickens Plan video to everyone you know. www.pickensplan.com. Ask them to JOIN. Ask them to pass it along. Time is of the essence. If every member had 10 friends join today, we could put the number of members over 1 million very quickly!

If we can not get critical numbers how can we take advantage of this golden opportunity? High gas prices have "woken up" America to our plight and a paradigm shift like not other is in the wind. We need to do this now.

So many new members write "I want to help, what can I do?" This is a start. We may not get to the next step if we can not get this one done.

Our leaders can not ignore millions of members of the Pickens Plan. We are not there yet. One person can make a difference.

I have put a sign in my car window that reads...
" 700 BILLION IN FOREIGN OIL ANNUALLY. STOP THE LARGEST TRANSFER OF WEALTH IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND.....TO OUR ENEMIES. JOIN www.pickensplan.com."

I also have small business card size notes with the same message that I can hand to friends. It's grass roots, but that is what this is going to take.

If you have a connection to the press- get them to cover this.
If you know someone who bogs- get them to cover this.
Have a nice day! Let me know how it goes.
