Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have been in the renewable industry for about four years now. I work on solar and wind projects around the country. I have been on the road for about two years and ive worked in more than 20states. I am in business development and sales, but I got in the industry by installing solar PV and building utility scale wind turbines. I make it a point to attend as many international renewable energy confrenances as I can.
What excites you about this campaign?
The Pickens plan excites me because it brings the energy topic to the forefront. This is a race to energy independence, and because of our new President and key members of congress, I think we have finally entered the worldwide race for energy independence and a strong economy based on sustainable and renewable technologies. I feel that 2009 marks the beginning of a newer and stronger green economy. I am curious to see which companies will be “the Google, the yahoo, the Micro Soft” of a booming new energy industry.
What do you want to do to help?
I have made a commitment to help advance the adoption of modern energy in our country. I couldn’t imagine working in any other industry. It’s exciting being a part of something that will change the world for the better. I think our most important job is to educate ourselves and others about clean energy and sustainability.

In the past I have worked with state policy makers to help pass legislation for a Michigan RPS and in February we will go Washington DC with AWEA and lobby for strong renewable energy policy.

Hi Scott!

Can you help us spread the word?

I've just started getting involved in a non-profit website (http://www.windturbines.net/) solely focused on wind turbines and how they can help. We've a social network for wind turbine enthusiasts and a directory where businesses connected in wind energy can post their business info and site.

If you have any advice on how to spread the word out about our site, it would be a great help.

Thanks!

Frances

Hi again, didn't realize we are neighbors, you are probably wondering what I am standing next to in the picture? A log for my sawmill. Got on to the Pickens Plan while researching a solar kiln for drying hardwoods, and joined the Pickens Plan in spring of 08. This is what this country needs is a Goal to be independent of foreign oil.

Sorry, that it took so long in replying, (I know such a lame excuse, sort of like our lawmakers use) but if you have anymore information, or upcoming events for this year, please let me know. I am interested in wind turbines and solar PV grids, I will be installing them on my property in the UP of Mich. But for now trying to learn all I can, and possibly switch careers, installing wind and solar grid systems. Thanks for your help Tim Heming

Hi Scott, You clearly have an exciting job and one that must give you a lot of satisfaction to be in the thick of the action. I am trying to keep money flowing to your industry by keeping my legislators feet hot with all the fire I am sending their way. When you're on the ground look up the phone number for your legislators (federal and state) and give them a call to urge passage of the stimulous package currently being considered. Oh, thanks for being my friend.

Hello Scott,
How in the world can you work up so high in the air??? I am impressed.
My name is Steve Duncan and I am the General Manager of a manufacturing company based in Albion, MI.
I have an excellent engineering and design group that I woek with on a daily basis as well as alot of manufacturing equipment that we may be able to put to use on "green" projects.
I would be interested in any of your comments concerning the projects you have worked on and what you see as potentials for this depressed economy in Michigan in the small manufacturing company sector.
Thanks and Best Regards
Steve Duncan

Hi Scott,

Thanks for your dedicated efforts. It's such a huge new infrastructure that the U.S. is undertaking. There would seem to be a growing demand for workers. How did you get started in this green work?

Those 500 foot towers look fascinating and terrifying all at the same time. Be careful!

Respectfully,

Hey Scott!

OMG that photo of the view from the top is amazing.... how do you do that? I can't imagine. So glad you can , though. Lord, be careful - you must scare the hell out of your mom.

It has been a while since we kept in touch last!

We are now over 1.2 million suporters. We will need many more if we are to beat back the damn lobbyists and special interests. Can you help with the pledges? Every American needs to sign on. With pledges we can fan out and reach so many. It is an easy ask- Boone has done the hard work. I was able to get 300 signed in the first 4 days - everyone wants to to get off of foreign oil. We may never have a golden opportunity like this again!
ARE YOU IN?

Best
Kim
