Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have been studying alternative power for over 10 years, and got very active socially after reading Kuntlser's "The Long Emergency" a couple of years back. As director of Operations for the Dallas office of the countly's largest tenant representation firm, I work with our national Project Management group in becoming LEED-accredited, to implement alternative energy and green materials into current and future office and industrial properties our clients inhabit. I have subscribed to Mother Earth News for 10 years, drive a Toyota Prius daily, and have taken further steps to reduce my family's carbon footprint, as well as passing this information on to my friends, family and acquaintences. I have attended numerous conferences and seminars on alternative energy, including last year's energy conference at the Dallas Petroleum Club hosted by IPAA and others. I have a degree in Economics and Finance, Magna Cum Laude,a nd understand clearly the financial impact of our current dependance problem. I look forward to an opportunity to learn more of Mr. Pickens' plan to share with others.
What excites you about this campaign?
I have met Mr. Pickens, having shared a floor of our office building with him (when we were Dillon Corporate Services), and believe his logic to be extremely sound and insightful. I know his plan can be even more effective here in Texas, with 70% current reliance on gas for power generation. And he's absolutely correct on the overall economic burden of this current situation. I never thought I'd say I'd like the US to be anything like Venezuela, but at least they have their foreign energy dependance licked. We need to get out of this bind, stay out of costly oil wars, and minimize our dependance on foreign countries to fuel our "needs". We need to get nuclear power operational, but until then (at least 15 years, since there are currently only 2 applications in the system for nuclear planst last I checked), Mr. Pickens' plan is the best I've seen. My partner here in Dallas (Greg Langston) is a fundraiser for John McCain and my Birmingham, AL partner (Patrick Denney) is a former aide of Sen. Richard Shelby, so I have political links that can be utilized to help push the plan. I also know Congressman Ralph Hall of Rockwall (4th District), Governor Perry's head of Economic Development for the State of Texas (Roberto De Hoyos) and numerous state and municipal elected officials in Texas and Oklahoma. We can use these relationships to influence energy policy, together.
What do you want to do to help?
Whatever I can to help promote US energy independence, alternative energy sources and conservation methods.

Great Causes bring out great people such as yourself. As a 25-year veteran in Power Generation & Energy Development, let me thank you for getting involved and extend an offer to provide insight and assistance in your local efforts. This is a very do-able plan and it starts with people like you in making it a success. The key to the plans success will be communicating to the masses. We need to communicate reality not dreams for unfortunately the American public has a very short attention span and most are living day to day. The Pickens Plan as it stands right now is at the 50,000 ft level. We need to develop a more comprehensive detailed national execution plan for the next five years. The first section should incorporate conservation and placing public pressure on elected officials at all levels of government to engage and approve a national plan while in parallel we are designing, constructing and installing the new alternative energy infrastructure systems. Once we have the grass roots base involved at this level, we can then continue to communicate the next steps of the plan to them to help bring us to the Energy Independence we are looking to accomplish
Happy New Year Scott,
Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Scott, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.
BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.
Scott,

I have used the same systems save money on my electricity costs and Scott, you can too. Your local wind resources are so good in Oklahoma. Please see these windmaps at the link below and pinpoint what number your area is in. Zone 2 is OK, anything over 2 is (very) good. First double check your wind resources from the map and links below.
