Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
No
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I'm a virologist getting my PhD at NYU Med and I built a solar thermal parabolic dish power plant for my 8th grade science fair. I have a passion for alternative energy sources and I'd really enjoy sharing it if I knew of any scheduled event.
What excites you about this campaign?
I'm primarily excited that Mr. Pickens has decided to take a stand where every else seems to be sitting by and watching things run down the drain. Even the G8 summit's recent resolution for 2050 was distubingly anticlimactic. Pickens is staking his life's work and wealth into a fervor for change and I want to help him get the ball rolling.
What do you want to do to help?
I'll participate in most anything that is pre-organized. I have a strong mind for science and a convincing argument.
In August 2008, a technological breakthrough in materials discovery by Dr. Daniel Nocera at MIT allows for VERY efficient photolysis of water into Hydrogen and Oxygen molecules by abundant and easily accessible atoms and molecules (Cobalt and Phosphate). All you need to apply is a small voltage potential like any other electrophoresis apparatus, which can come from renewable resources, and illuminate the water tank with light. No more expensive Platinum and Palladium.

LIMITLESS HYDROGEN!!!
Soooooo inexpensive it's sickening!

Store your hydrogen indefinitely for limitless energy storage!

The argument that when the sun goes down solar energy fails, has now been put to rest for good!

Now I Don't know any intelligent person that actually wants to put hydrogen inside of a car. That's just dangerous and stupid. Hydrogen liquefies at -254C, -423F, (that's COLD!) and consequently must be under high pressure to compensate for the fact that it will be sitting in a tank at ROOM TEMPERATURE or warmer underneath your car ... much warmer.

Hydrogen in a car is dangerous ... But what if power companies use hydrogen created cheaply (see above) to power their already existing fuel cell power plants???

Another August 2008 amazing discovery of a material for Hydrogen fuel cell membranes poises the world for a collective gasp. Spanish researchers and American physists together have discovered and subsequently elucidated the structure of a material that is 10^8 (yes, 100million) times more efficient than current fuel Cell membrane technology.

I'm not even exaggerating... It's made out of ZrO2:Y2O3/SrTiO3
All abundant materials

The membrane in a fuel cell allows the proton (H+) of hydrogen (H2) to pass through and pair with oxygen on the other side but forces the electron (which can't pass through) to go the "long-way" which happens to be through electrical wiring, hence generating current. Now we can generate 100 million times the current with the same amount of hydrogen gas.

Then we could create the majority of our electricity from hydrogen fuel cells, and use that electricity to charge the batteries on our car.

Discuss! Invest! Think about it!

Seth,

I'm glad to see this post on Dr. Nocera's breakthrough and concepts. I've written it up a few times now, and look forward to the potentials of every home having its own hydrogen power plant. That way, plug-in EVs are more practical. Driving around with a hydrogen pack doesn't sit as well with me.

Now if we could just get him to figure out a better battery. Maybe the brainiacs at the agg schools (oxymoron?) could work with the geneticists on a potato battery? :)

As you have the time for a post or three, I'd welcome your input on some of the alt. energy sites I work with.

Hey Seth,

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan with the rest of us. We are glad you are here and we need your help. Ph. D ? Very impressive.

I see that you have been busy joining some groups and participating in many discussions.

If you knew this already, please forgive me, but did you know that you can send a letter to congress from the MAIN PAGE on this site? It’s easy - at the top of the MAIN PAGE entitled THE PLEDGE and there you will find a Red button that reads – CONTACT CONGRESS. Follow the steps and have your voice heard.

Be sure to check out my friends, as they are so smart, creative, educated, talented, hardworking, wholesome, friendly, helpful and very passionate.

Please remember why we are here, as we must help get our numbers up at a faster much pace and share ideas and resources. And get 5 friends to join this site, just as you have done!!!

Have a Green day,

Kim Hansen (Texas)

p.s. If you would like you can add me as one of your friends so that we may keep in touch and share ideas and information. Click the button (hyperlink) below your profile photo on your page + Add as friend.

I just sent a fax and an email to Congressman Rogers from Alabama and both Senators from my state. I ripped off large segments from your page. Hope you don't mind. This is what it looked like. - almost - this form strips out colors.

August 2008 will go down in history as one of the most significant in human history because of two scientific discoveries. The first is a technological breakthrough in materials by Dr. Daniel Nocera at MIT that allows for VERY efficient photolysis of water into Hydrogen and Oxygen molecules by abundant and easily accessible atoms and molecules (Cobalt and Phosphate). All you need to apply is a small voltage potential like any other electrophoresis apparatus, which can come from renewable resources, and illuminate the water tank with light. In the same month Spanish researchers and American physicists together have discovered a material for Hydrogen fuel cell membranes that is 10^8 (yes, 100million) times more efficient than current fuel Cell membrane technology. The Oak Ridge National Laboratory has confirmed the efficiency of this membrane. While the world gasps at the magnitude of this discovery they went on to explain the structure of this new material. The materials are common and inexpensive. It's made out of ZrO2:Y2O3/SrTiO3. All abundant materials.

MIT and Oak Ridge Nation LaboratoriesYou can’t get stronger credentials. Please make sure that these breakthrough technologies make it out of the laboratory and into the marketplace…SOON… or Big Oil and big Electric Utility money will bury the best hope for the human race. Unlimited power.

I am also sending this by email so you can “click” on the links above and read the entire articles.

Hi Seth, I have another question. Why do you believe that hydrogen is so much more dangerous than gasoline? Today's technology is not the same as was used for the Hindenburg. Tanks are capable of surviving most crashes. I believe that safeguards can be engineered for nearly all contingencies and catastrophic accidents are going to kill the occupants anyway.

Why do you want to move pistons around (am I right?) with an air engine when electric power works great for cars and the fuel cell would produce plenty of electricity?

Hi Seth,

Critical... well, yes. The way it was reported made it sound that the present efficiency of fuel cell membranes in Coulombs/Mole is dismally low... the 8 orders. Based on your response I believe you're referring to O2 -> 2O - - at the cathode. In that case sure 8=log(n) is no big deal. That was lost in the posting as I read it. Either way the term efficiency left me puzzled. I never thought of the pH of 'water' as being 10^-7 'efficient'.

I feel we can just agree that the expression of the system as being 100 million times 'better' is just an extreme case of hyperbole. :^)

Your hydrogen post somehow got into the Solar Power group. Great idea, but we're focused on another option in that group. Please restrict your Hydrogen push posts to groups like:
http://push.pickensplan.com/group/hydrogenmanhattanproject

Or other groups with that intent. Nice idea.

O by the way, I just downloaded the two pdf files that are the same ones you may have offered to send by email. This is fantastic stuff! We have GOT to get the word out.

Seth,

When you saw a coefficient of 10^8 didn't you stop and ask how the present technology could be so bad and somehow made it into the commercial arena? I did the moment I saw your first post...

Even though molecular biology isn't that math intensive, an error of 100 million : 1 could be devastating to a career... :^)
