Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Automotive Hydrogen supplimental systems.
Investigation of Aircraft hydrogen supplimental systems.
Building of personal wind generators for home use, using
a home built turbine and 24v John Deer Alternator.
Making my home highly energy efficient. I have dropped my
heating costs in just three years from $175 p/mn to
under $90, and this even with rising fuel prices.
What excites you about this campaign?
First off I will say that I hate the word GREEN. Althought I feel we are not being a good stewart of what God gave us to manage and that the worlds temp is on the rise, I do not believe we are the cause. Geology has proven that this world goes through ice ages and heat wave cycles. Science has proven that we are currently in an upswing of that natural cycle. Even if man was being a good steward of the world, the worlds temp would still be on the rise anyway just as it has done in it's past and at the same cycles it always had. The Learning Channel and The History Channel has said this on many shows.
Having said all this I believe energy independence as a necessity has a lot more to do with national security then it does anything else. If this nation is not secure both militarily and financially, there is no hope of being a good stewart of this planet, we will not have the financial resources to invest in alternate energy sources. Sending all this money, 700 billion a year, will continue to weaken this nation. Although I agree that technology and alternative sources of energy are the future and need to be invested in now and heavily, it is a slow and long term future. Fact is, we are going to be using oil for the forseable future. Even if every car in the U.S. was electric, all Aircraft will still be using oil based fuels. We need to find more of our own oil, and use only our own oil.
I agree with Mr Pickens that we can't drill our way out of this mess, I do fell that we can drill our way to some temporary relief of a major financial and energy source problem. This will keep a lot, if not all, of that 700 billion in our own country, and help make us more financially sound so we can invest more money into alternative energy sources. If we get to the point where all of our energy needs come from domestic sources; oil, natural gas, wind, solar, nuclear, hydro, and hydrogen we will be a secure nation and once again be a world leader financially and raise that value of the dollar. We should be increasing all of our energy sources together. Once we attain energy indepenence then we should continue growth in alternative energy sources and lower the need for oil and all sources of carbon energy, looking to a day when all sources of carbon energy will no longer be needed.
The major reason we invest so much in Middle East security is our need for it's oil. An unstable Middle East would strongly weaken this nation. Energy independence would greatly reduce the need for all of our Middle East investments.
One aspect that I wish we would look into more is nuclear energy. We have proven as a nation that nuclear technology is safe despite several incidents. But our aging power plants will be in need of upgrades soon. In addition, France of all nations, is much further ahead of us in nuclear technology. They not only have proven to the world that nuclear energy production can be safe they have done it safer then the U.S. plants. In addition they have also proven that they can recycle nuclear fuel rods to the point that they are doing it for other nations and making money for themselves thus strengthening their own economy. We should move to retake the nuclear power lead and exploit this clean source of energy production.
Finally what excites me about Mr Picken's campaign is that it is coming from a non-government source. Although I believe the government has a role is our energy crisis we are not a monarchy and it does not have nor should it have total control in our energy recovery. The Consitution is very clear, "WE THE PEOPLE !". It is designed as a republic, small government and power to the people through capitalism & democracy and not socialism & monachy. The only way that we will solve these issues is if everyone gets envolved. "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". Most of the issues we face today are due to the fact that the Government runs free and "We The People" run silent. We all need to make our homes more efficient, purchase more fuel efficient cars or alternative fuel/ energy cars, invest in personal home use alternative energy sources (wind, solar), be energy conscience at work, and support businesses that invest and/ or using alternate sources. In our nations history our greatest moves forward have always happened when "We The People" have been unified and moved with motivation in what ever direction we chose to move. Just look at what we did during WWII.
Looking for the day that the U.S. is not only energy independent but Carbon energy Free! Blessings Shane

U.S.'s need for Energy Independence

Hello All, with all the current talk on energy I desided to weigh in on my view. I have recently added my name to T. Boone Pickens web site. This post is a response to a Question "What excites you about "The Pickens Plan" campaign?

First off I will say that I hate the word GREEN. Althought I feel we are not being a good stewart of what God gave us to manage and that the worlds temp is on the rise, I do not believe we are the cause. Geology has proven that this world goes through ice ages and he… Continue

Hi Shane , I'm the state Internal Communication Director for the Michigan FairTax Assn which works "hand in glove" with goals of the Pickens Plan because by REPLACING the Michigan income tax, families and businesses will have additional disposable monthly income to make energy utilization improvements to their homes, businesses, and transportation.

For The Facts- End income tax returns, audits, interest, penalties and 1/2 the lobbyists in LansingHow will passage of a MI FairTax do this? It will REPLACE the income tax and current sales tax, with a consumption tax (sales tax at point of retail sale). This means that no more state tax will be withheld from Michigan wage-earners' paychecks. What's more, every Michigan resident-family will receive a monthly "prebate" check, in amount based on family size. This will ensure that NO Michigan family will EVEN BEGIN paying the MI FairTax on goods / services unless, or until, they exceed poverty-level spending.

Under the FairTax plan, points of collection are reduced to retailers many of whom are already collecting sales tax. Because service providers must account for income tax withholding and compliance costs, their prices carry a hidden tax which will become visible under the MI FairTax. (The MI FairTax EXCLUDES business-to-business purchases as this would, again, hide the cost of taxation in prices.)

Because of the prebate to ALL Michigan-resident households, the MI FairTax rate would effectively be 0% on all monthly family spending to the poverty level; thereafter it's 9.75%. The average effective rate will be around 5.5% (see p.2 of pdf brochure).

Please, join our email list to learn how you can help advance the Michigan FairTax and facilitate Pickens Plan goals!

Merry Christmas Shane,
This year I have helped so many members learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about power use, conservation, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my energy costs. Send me a friend request a to add me Shane, I'd be honored to have you as a friend here.

BTW, Michigan: I just posted an article on my page about Home Wind Systems in Michigan. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "soft policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. You should read that article, important.

Really Glad you are with Us Shane, WELCOME ABOARD!

(1) Contact Congress: Please Go to THE PLEDGE (very top of this page) On the top of the pledge page there are three rectangular buttons- two blue ones and ONE RED BUTTON, that reads "CONTACT CONGRESS" . Fill in the short, standard form. Done! Thanks.
(2) Personal Energy Plan: In addition to political support and action, I encourage you to consider a Personal Energy Plan in which you take control of your electricity by using home energy systems. I help members with their own home systems and I am glad to help you and answer any questions. Below is some info and links that will give you an idea of where to start.

Hi Shane,
We have new roof mounting residential wind turbine kits are shipping now. They are sleek, attractive, and well designed. These are actually a home appliance on the roof, much like an antennae or satellite dish. They are as easy to install as other home appliances, like dishwasher, home theatre, etc. It's a nice clean way for you to begin your Personal Energy Plan. These systems are inexpensive, easy to install, scaleable.

Your Wind blows stronger in winter, Your Sun shines stronger in summer. This hybrid wind/solar system combines these cycles to give a more even flow of energy year round. This homeowner sized wind/solar system provides free power for your home. Many customers have found it easy to become customer/dealers of our kits. Customers can become a dealer with no further investment, they see quickly how people are easy to get interested.

I have used the same systems save money on my electricity costs from day one and Shane, you can too. Your local wind resources are so good in Michigan. Check these windmaps and see can you pinpoint what number your area is in. Zone 2 is OK, anything over 2 is (very) good. First double check your wind resources from the map and links below.
