Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I was one of the first to have solar power that I know of personally and used wind energy to generate power in my cabin in Canada. I've studied the options of alternative energy on and off as advancements and information were made available. Always considered it a better more independant way to be able to have power when a system breaks down, issues arrise due to outside influences...a family should have a source of energy to generate the power they need to survive at least for sufficient time for any and all problems are solved regarding any other form of community power that should be regarded as a bonus. I'm not for isolation but am for independance and the flexibility it allows. It gives you a choice you otherwise don't have if you rely soley on what is provided to you. It is imperitive Americans stop granting the power to the government for almost everything of importance in their life; teaching their children, power for their homes, credit for their homes, cars, lifestyles, food sources rather than providing some of it themselves in the form of small gardens, etc.. Worse, the government outsources much of what we delegate to them to other countries...not even our allies. How many of the banks that own a large percent of our homes, cars, businesses, etc. are owned by Americans? Not many. One silver lining to the bailout is that the American government now owns many rather than the bank that is owned by Japan, China, Saudi, etc.
What excites you about this campaign?
The ownership is here in America; theoretically, there could be a personal unit for some depending on their location; if properly managed, set up and financed in such a way that it is kept economical and there is a way to store the energy - this could be a very independant way for America to take care of it's people and sell the same plan to other countries to utilize rather than using other systems that are more expensive and demand relocation of people from their farmland homes for generations that are now moved to areas they cannot farm to provide for their families, such as the Yanzee River project in China.
What do you want to do to help?
I am a networker and have already spoken to many about the Pickens Plan and what I think it can do for America and it's citizens. I think it can provide jobs, provide clean energy that will help our pollution solution as well. I live near the Del Mar Country Club where his wife and Boone have spoken before and would give my time and energy to help them with an event there to help to inform more about this plan.

Hi Sherarn,
Thanks for reaching out as a new friend. I enjoyed reading your profile and your comments about your personal experiences. I too have had the pleasure of meeting and speaking with Mr. & Mrs. Pickens at the recent FACE golf tournament, in addition to meeting with some of their friends. It is a great group of friends and I hope to expand my horizons a little more this year and build upon the growing network of professionals and associates. Hope we can meet sometime in the near future. Please feel free to contact me regarding upcoming events and current issues within our reach.
Best regards,

For the Pickens Plan Team,
On April 22th at Palomar College in San Marcos, CA we will be hosting an Earth Day event which is open to the public. As a 2-yr college to 33,000+ students, as well as being a Hispanic Learning Institution (HSI), this is an opportunity to take advantage of the exposure for our Pickens Plan efforts. Tables, chairs and location will be provided and secured for us. I do recommend bringing canopies for shade, but they're not required. For further information, don't hesitate to contact me.
Enthusiastically,

Well Sherarn,
I am learning that Solar can be pretty exciting even with what little it has to do with Exterior and Landscape. I have been reading about new ideas and technology every day it seems. Even as little as lining the outside edge of a roof garden with solar panels, I mean a real park like garden with seating, water features, etc., to run the water features, irrigaton, and night lighting and maybe even electric heating elements. I see tall sky-line buildings making use of their most valuable square footage for restaurants or happy hours. Thanks for an inspiring profile with all its truisms.
hi sheran - - thanks for the comments...i like your attitude on alternative energy. i only have geothermal but it is a lifesaver on costs for heating and cooling. i know people that pay in a month what i pay for a year for heat. i wish i could find an economical way to use a windmill. i have 15 acres in which to put one...great minds think alike..
Please note that event listed Feb. 12 is a mistake it is on the 7th Sat.
Sherarn,
If you would like to take a trip to the coast we are having a Solar and sustainability event in San Clemente, Southern California.
800 S. El Camino Real, Saturday 2.7.09 10am to 4pm.
Here is the event:

How many pledges did you get sigend in your first week? Sure would love to have a beautiful lady as our poster cild for the 100CLUB! PLEASE let me know how you are doing!
Best
Kim
Please congratulate Dianna Brown for making the 100CLUB!
WELCOME!! Just wanted to take a minute to thank you for taking the first step and joining Pickens Plan. We are real people here with real dreams and a desire to get something done to secure a better future! Here are some ways you can help.
EMAIL A LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES
The creators of this site have given us the ability, with little effort, to send a letter to our Representatives in Washington and Governor, too. Please go to "THE PLEDGE" (at the very top of this page on the blue header). On the top of the pledge page there are three rectangular buttons- two blue, and ONE RED BUTTON, that reads "CONTACT CONGRESS". Fill in the short, standard form. Done!
DOWNLOAD AND PRINT THE PLEDGE
Carry some copies with you and get as many as you can signed and faxed back to Boone. This is how we build our numbers fast! Be a part of the "100 CLUB" by faxing in 100 signed pledges. Let me know when you are done and I will add you to that growing list!
BRING 5 FOLKS TO JOIN
The more members we have the bigger our voice to Congress! With enough members, they will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interests, who will certainly try to derail this historic effort. If you bring 5 members and THEY bring 5 members… well you can do the math!
THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. Now is our chance to be a part of the solution!

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan.
A GROUP FOR EVERYONE
Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, your area, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST
We can always use new, fresh Welcome Wagon “drivers”! It is important that we greet each new member of Pickens Plan (as I am doing now to you!) and let him or her know what can be done immediately. If you have some free time during the day, let me know and I will send you explicit instructions! They are also on the blog on my page.
PLEASE feel free to FRIEND ME so we can keep in touch and share ideas!
Thanks again for joining this historical effort. WE CAN DO THIS!
Warm wishes for a GREEN RENEWABLE FUTURE!!!

Can spot a real do-er a mile away! So glad you are here.
We must build this army We need to make this voice so loud that those damn politicians will be risking political suicide to ignore us!
Consider getting 100 pledges signed and faxed in.
Here is one that did-
Please congratulate Dianna Brown, as she was invited to join the 100CLUB today - for those that fax/send in more that 100 signed pledges! In addition to her pledge push success, she drives the Welcome Wagon often, providing a steady and passionate hand in sharing our goals to new members.
She is a Picken's Hero!
Best to you,
Kim
