- Thirty years ago my husband, an architect, and I began building a house on land we own, formerly my parents' dairy farm, which would be low maintenance and energy efficient. We built a rock and stucco house, which utilized passive solar design, wood burning inserts (3) and electricity.
We have discussed changing over to ground source heat pumps to assist in electric power used.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- I am excited to be a part of a group that is taking action not waiting for someone else to figure it out. We definitely need not to be reliant on foreign oil. My husband and I both have worked, and still work, in Springfield, MO. We use a lot of gas and it has begun to take a big bite out of our budget.
I definitely see that wind power would work. We live not far from the "great plains" and I'm well aware that the wind blows constantly there.
I want to be part of the solution.
- What do you want to do to help?
- I am retired as a public school principal and now sell real estate. I have experience organizing and leading people and relating to all kinds of people. I can help organize, ask people to write their congressmen and women on behalf of this plan, ask them to join this initiative, lobby my legislators, etc.

I have found that petitons are the best way to spread the word AND sign up supporters.
Here is HOW TO TURN THE PLEDGE INTO A PETITION!
I find it easiest to take one pledge, cut off Boone's lines under the pledge and add a sheet of lined paper under the pledge instead. I put NAME - ADDRESS - EMAIL across the top and fill in the first line to set the format. Most are more willing to sign where others have already done so, rather than the single pledge at a time approach. Everyone understands a petition.
I ask if they would "sign this petition in support of T, Boone Pickens energy plan to get us off of foreign oil?" Hand them the clipboard so they can read it. I do not require the signers to give me their email if they are reticent - don't let that be a deal breaker - some just do not want to give it.
Check out the 100CLUB group page to see how others have accomplished the task. (it is the first goup on my page) When you send/fax in 100, let me know, we will gladlyinvite you to be a member of the 100CLUB. Your leadership on this will inspire thousands!
There are over 150 people in the pledge challenge that I know of right now. Surely, there are many more that I am unaware of, as it is in many greetings. Those 150 willl bring 15,000 new members. If each brings just 5 friends, these 150 will be responsible for 75,000 new members.
This is the approach that works best for me - I tried many. Hopefully, this will encourage you to take the challenge, too. CAN YOU HELP?

Glad to have you here. Hope you can get others to join this historical effort. We must turn up the pressure. Is there anyone out there that still thinks it is a good idea to borrow 700 billion from China to pay the Middle East for our oil? every year? It is laughable....if it were not so damn stupid.

EMAIL A LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES
the creators of this site have given us the ability, with little effort, to send a letter to our Representatives in Washington and Governor, too. PLEASE GO TO "THE PLEDGE" (at the very top of this page on the blue header). On the top of the pledge page there are three rectangular buttons- two blue, and ONE RED BUTTON, that reads "CONTACT CONGRESS". Fill in the short, standard form. Done!
YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE PLEDGE, get them signed and faxed back to Boone. This is how we build our numbers fast! Be a leader, be a part of the "100 CLUB", by faxing in 100 signed pledges. Let me know when you are done and I will add you to the list.
YOU CAN HELP BY BRINGING 5 FOLKS TO JOIN the site today, so that we can build a voice big enough that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interests, who will certainly try to derail this historic effort.

…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan.
A GROUP FOR EVERYONE
Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, your area, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.
