Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I'm an Ag Engineer who also farms.
I'm very interested in Energy conservation and alternative energy development. I have been exploring on farm biodiesel production and am consulting with a local BBQ restaurant chain about energy, recycling and biodiesel production.
What excites you about this campaign?
It is honest about it goal... To be a transition piece toward highly advanced technology. It is not the answer but rather a link to the future. This is an approach that makes sense.
What do you want to do to help?
Research opportunites for Ohio and promote what Ohio can do to work toward the future.

Aloha, Are you interestested in learning how the Mariah Windspire can work for you? We are now installing Windspires in Northern California, Eastern Colorado and Western Nebraska. We can produce wind powered electricity for your home or business. Please contact me here or at: mrbillmaui@yahoo.com 402 884-22179(O) or 831 402 2037(C)
Windspire will be featured on a special episode of ABC's "20/20" on June 19th at 10/9C. The episode highlights the impact the new Windspire manufacturing facility is having in Michigan by putting ex-autoworkers back to work.

Sword,
I too was raised on a farm.
TRANSPORTATION is the master key to basic survival, and the cornerstone of the economy. We all know that transportation presently depends on oil production, and oil production is peaking. We must focus first on transportation – it is the highest priority.
The PickensPlan to transition vehicles to natural gas is a great start toward 100% energy independence, but is a stop-gap measure till we can transition to all electric transportation. Electric energy is strained without adding transportation demands; so we must drastically improve efficiency .
Evacuated Tube Transport (ETT) is a patented technology where travel occurs without air friction or rolling resistance (like “Space Travel on Earth”); ETT can accomplish 50 times more transportation per kWh (or carbon credit) than electric cars or trains. ETT is silent, low cost, safe, faster than jets, and is electric so it can make maximum use of wind or PV power. I invite you to visit my page to learn more about ETT
I was raised on a dairy as well, (60 cows). My father sold the dairy when I was younger and we transitioned into beef and grain. My wife and I just bought our first farm this winter and live in the Columbus region working the weekdays to pay for our bad ag habit.
I earned my M.S. in Ag Engineering at Penn State and worked on a project for shredding silage for livestock feed. This research has now been transformed to cellousic ethanol harvesting research. I was living in WI working for a livestock equipment manuf. and also worked at a 2000 cow dairy on the side. They were implementing methane digestion for power generation and composting of dairy solids. I left to come back home to be closer to my family. I was so amazed by the can do attitude in Wisconsin. I wish here in Ohio we could get a spark going to make some of these things get going. We seem to be reluctant as a state to make a major push. One of our assets is our broad diversitiy throughout the population. This also seems to lead to grid lock on building a coalition. It is time for some real leadership. We have all the pieces, a great University System, Amazing Research facilities (BATELLE, OARDC, TRC), an unmatched Transportation network (rail, roads, Ohio River, Lake Erie), a solid utility infrasturcture and many great natural resources (land, coal, timber, water, etc). Ohio leadership woes have always been covered up by its great location. It is time to become innovative and unlock the potential of this great state.
I have been toying with on farm biodiesel production for a little while. My current goal is to raise a double crop after wheat (like sunflowers) to process for fuel and have a protein byproduct for pasture based livestock (soil builders). Just something I'm thinking about currently. I feel reduced tillage is a must for both energy consevation and for soil saving.
The opportunites are endless and I am very excited for the future. I'm always looking for great people to bounce ideas off of.
I agree with Boone.....anything domestic (energy) is in play.

I am a "retired" farmer (dairy, 150 head holstiens) ......one never really retires from farming I think.
Have you seen the development in CA and the mid-west in methane/energy production?
The project in central CA has been tied into the grid.
I am sure that an alternative fuel for field equipment is a priority now. Hopefully some discussion will be generated in that direction.
Best Regards,
Dale and Laure Simpson
