Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:

I don't have experience with alternative energy. I did drive to Colorado with my mother last year and was amazed at the huge windmills around the Texas panhandle. It was the first time I had ever seen an alternative energy being used. Also, outside of my parents home in Kerrville you can find a propane station (building). I've never stopped to see exactly who it provides propane for, but I was proud to see another alternative in the works; even if it's purpose is concentrated on filling propane tanks for grills.

What excites you about this campaign?

What excites me about this campaign is that a pioneer and extremely intelligent man, T. Boone Pickens, is talking about alternative energy! He apparently has a strong conscience about what we can do to preserve our environment and has thought of ways to change our habits and dependence on oil. I'm all for a campaign that wants to talk about it NOW, instead of later.

What do you want to do to help?

Learn more about what the possibilities are to alternative energy. By being educated I will write letters to my local newspaper, my Congress representatives, try and vocalize the local colleges in town, and be a strong advocate for smart alternative energies. Did I happen to mention I live in a town full of refineries on the Gulf Coast. Look up Corpus Christi and see how many we have. It's horrible seeing the smoke billowing out of the pipes at all hours of the day.

Last year I helped so many members of Pickens Plan learn about personal home energy plans. It's all about conservation of power, and home power generation, things I have been doing at my residence to lower my electricity costs. BTW, Texas: I just posted an article link on my pickens page about Home Wind Systems in Texas. Your state's representatives, governor, and public utility commission officials are not in your corner with this "weak policy" on Net Metering. Instead they have the tables turned against green power for businesses and homeowners. Texas has created multiple sets of rules for loopholes and you have less rights than people in other states. You should read that article, important.

Writing letters to the paper is a great idea. We need a million members to join before elections to show Congress we are serious. Please get your friends to join. We must stop sending 700 BILLION dollars a year to people who may or may not be our friends. Friend me if you like, and join one of the groups.
