- Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
- I have worked in various positions in our local natural gas company for 19 years now. I had a couple of natural gas appliances already and loved the efficiency of them, but last year I had my house piped to accomodate almost every natural gas appliance available to me, up to and including the fireplace and a generator. I purchased and installed all those appliances because I truly believe in the resource. I'm also very interested in wind and solar energy resources as well.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- This campaign has the potential to reach and convince every American that there IS hope, and that together, we CAN do this!
- What do you want to do to help?
- I'd love to say, "Anything and everything I can do to help", but with a full time career in addition to being a Mom, grandmother, wife, daughter, sister, aunt, etc., life gets in the way of being able to make such a broad committment. But give me some options on what kind of help you need and I'll check them out!

I was like you - unsure how to help organize then I had a realization: the BEST way to help organize is to spread the word. I discuss these issues everyday with my teenage stepchildren, with my stepmother, with friends, family, even just strangers in line at the grocery store. It's surprising how most people are concerned about these issues but rarely begin the conversation themselves. If everyone invites just 5 of their friends to join us here it will help T. Boone Pickens to get our unified message in front of Congress and get our concerns addressed.
$700 BILLION PER YEAR
Big oil profits are unconscionable and oil futures speculators have pushed oil prices into territory that is disastrous for the long term health of the US economy. We are transferring $700 billion each year to unstable and antagonistic regimes. Americans are angry and ready as never before, to take dramatic steps to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. A plan for ending our dependence on foreign oil has appeared on the horizon and surprisingly it comes from an oil man but he happens to be a patriotic American.

with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN US! From your own experience you know it is very much like simply signing a petition. The larger our membership the more likely we will be successful in getting Congress to provide effective incentives for alternative and renewable energies and in insuring that our future president will treat energy independence as a matter of the greatest urgency, applying the same kind of leadership as JFK exercised when he led us with his stirring challenge to put a man on the moon in 10 years.
THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to think that we could be looking back and apologizing to our children that we chose not to get this done when we had the chance.
PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Write to your Congressman/woman. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan. Print downloadable flyers and put them in your car and/or business window.
I am reminded of an ancient admonition,
“Work while it is day for the night is coming when no man can work.”
