Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
This is a quote from a wind energy publication sometime in the mid to late 80s.

A Wind power Pioneer. Terry Cox was an early pioneer in developing large wind turbines. He was one of the original executives at FloWind Corporation in California and Seattle, and served as its Vice President of Operations from 1982 to 1985. He led the efforts at FloWind that developed the 100 kW and 300 kW vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs), jointly with the Sandia National Lab. The 300 kW VAWT was the largest and most cost-effective wind turbine at that time. For their contributions, FloWind and Sandia jointly received the top national award for energy innovation for 1984, from the U. S. Dept of Energy.

He was also an early pioneer in developing large-scale wind farms in California. He led the efforts at FloWind that designed, manufactured, installed, and operated 500 of these VAWTs over 7,000 acres of high-wind properties in two wind farms in California – one in the Altamont Pass near San Francisco and one in the Tehachapi Pass near Los Angeles, for a total power output of 170 MW (including those from Danish wind turbines). By the end of 1985, FloWind became the 2nd largest wind power company in the world.

Thanks Terry.

Yep, its very fulfilling to develop a site from scratch to commercial operations.

We are able to do that because we are standing on the shoulder of the giants who came before us. Like you!

Thanks again.

Hi Terry

Thanks for your comment. We are inaugurating Phase I of the Penascal project in Kenedy County this month. 84 2.4 MW Mitsubishi turbines for a total of 201.6 MW.

I updated my page with some newer fotos of the project.

Trying to finance another two projects right now, but with the price of natural gas and the financial turmoil, it ain't easy!

Great Causes bring out great people such as yourself. As a 25-year veteran in Power Generation & Energy Development, let me thank you for getting involved and extend an offer to provide insight and assistance in your local efforts. This is a very do-able plan and it starts with people like you in making it a success. The key to the plans success will be communicating to the masses.We need to communicate reality not dreams for unfortunately the American public has a very short attention span and most are living day to day. The Pickens Plan as it stands right now is at the 50,000 ft level. We need to develop a more comprehensive detailed national execution plan for the next five years. The first section should incorporate conservation and placing public pressure on elected officials at all levels of government to engage and approve a national plan while in parallel we are designing, constructing and installing the new alternative energy infrastructure systems. Once we have the grass roots base involved at this level, we can then continue to communicate the next steps of the plan to them to help bring us to the Energy Independence we are looking to accomplish .If there is anything I can do to help you in your efforts, please feel free to contact me. Also, If you are ever in the Frisco area and would like th have dinner one evening to exchange ideas. Please give me a call

Warm Regards;
