Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I work for ESRI global leader in Geographic Information Systems. I developed the Carbon Footprint Managers Information System applying GIS to the problems of understanding, managing, visualizing, weighing alternatives and tracking the progress of an organization to reduce their greenhouse gas impact and adapt to climate change. A big part of that is transportation and route management and alternative energy source site suitability modeling.

I proposed this plan to Mr. Billings (Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Installations and Environment) to deal with the USAF 11 Billion Dollar fuel problem. We are looking for bases to deploy this methodology to.

GIS is the tool for mapping site suitability for alternative energy and corridor analysis. Mr. Pickens should know this.
What excites you about this campaign?
Mr. Pickens has a plan.

Mr. Pickens is a geologist and bases his actions on models.

GIS is the way you model the world.

GIS could be applied to his campaign, Wind Generation Site Suitability analysis, energy transmission site suitability analysis, and virtually every other aspect of this program.

If GIS is being used I would like to know how, where, and why...and if not...why not?

GIS is the way to map his audience, his support, his opposition, his successes and his objectives. We can map this campaign like we map for military plans.
What do you want to do to help?
Bring together the power of the Pickens Plan with GIS to make it happen bigger and faster by answering questions like: Where is wind density highest and land cheapest? Where are those sites closest to Transmission lines and substations? Where are the biggest markets for natural gas vehicle and where are there natural gas fuel stations? Which natural gas powered Electrical Generating stations could be converted to other fuel sources? Where are Pickens Plan supporters located? Where are town hall meetings scheduled? How can I schedule meettings to maximize attendance?

I want to help make this happen. I would also like to get Mr. Pickens to talk with Mr. Jack Dangermond (owner of ESRi) about how GIS could help.

Hello Terry,
Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. Here is how you can help.

EMAIL A LETTER TO YOUR REPRESENTATIVES -
This is urgent, because the Energy Bill in Congress is in danger of not passing! We are blessed that the creators of this site have given us the ability, with little effort, to send a letter to our Representatives in Washington and Governor, too.
Go to THE PLEDGE (at the very top of this page on the blue header) On the top of the pledge page there are three rectangular buttons- two blue ones and ONE RED BUTTON, that reads "CONTACT CONGRESS" . Fill in the short, standard form. Done!

You CAN ALSO HELP BY BRINGING 5 FOLKS TO JOIN the site today, so that we can build a voice big enough that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interests, who will certainly try to derail this historic effort.

YOU CAN DOWNLOAD THE PLEDGE on the main page. Print out 10 or more of them, get them signed and fax them back ASAP. When we are millions strong, we can achieve this.

THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.

Check out Pickens "August Call to Action"- for a course of action!

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan.

A GROUP FOR EVERYONE Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, your area, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.

PLEASE FRIEND ME so we can keep in touch. I do updates on new member numbers and perinent ifno.

Thanks again for joining this historical effort. WE CAN DO THIS

Kevin
