Tim, I'm with you as an Obama supporter. How people can see redemption in the McCain-Palin ticket is beyond me. After so many years of failed policies (non-policies), Present Obama will certainly have his work cut out for himself.
I really haven't heard much from Obama that makes me believe in his program. Sorry. It just isn't there. Frankly we won't get away from oil for twenty years or more and it is pie in ther sky to think we can. the reason is that there are too many vehicles and not enough technologies and manufacturing infrastructure yet.
I want this Pickens plan to take off too but you need to realize that for every gallon of oil we pull out of the ground we keep, many jobs in Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Texas.
The Pickens plan calls for an all out focus on all kinds of energy solutions not just wind. This also will include other sources of energy the environmentalists hate. "Nuclear" and claen burning coal plants.
What concerns me is that Obama hasn't been very fourthright in his plans in attacking this problem from all sides and with all of our resources brought to bear including natural resources, industrial infrastructure and technical advances in wind generation and solar.
Just my opinion but I am in the industrial manufacturing environment and quite honestly the transportation industry has a long way to go and there are too many existing cars on the road to turn this ship around like you have described...
If it did happen like you wish you would throw whole sectors of industry and workers out of work.
