Support These Fledgling Technology Companies Any Way You Can

People keep asking me what companies I support. That's a tough one. I support all renewable energy companies in one way or another. Some I simply agree with the principle while others I would write a donation check out to. Others I keep track of and just pass that info along. The following is my list of ones that I would actively support beyond just passing their name along. I firmly believe that the success of our national/global crisis here relies on these companies getting thContinue

Supplemental Plan To The Pickens Plan - It's time to power up this movement!

Mr. Picken's is looking for a plan to complete his energy proposal. Here's my contribution for review. Attached is the comprehensive Excel version covering Resources, Funding, Consumer Cost, Job Growth, and Grid Stability. For those of you staying here, I'll post the Supply Mix (Appologies in advance on the formatting).

Let's get a plan agreed upon and get a group of people behind it so we can move this game to the next level. I want to hear how you would change it and see if we can refine it i… Continue

An Investment In The War Trumps An Investement In The Battle

So many people are asking how to invest in this or that renewable energy piece. They want a major fund manager but they want the buy-in amount cheap enough so that the average Joe can invest. They want to start a business to install wind farms and still have a vote. They even want to maintain ownership for long term income. These goals are at odds with each other and don't serve the cause anywhere near what they could. People, let's think about this intelligently. You… Continue

What We Want Is A Really Smart Grid

I have been promoting a few changes to the so called smart grid. If implimented, these changes will allow instant automated control of all local grid sections, keeping supply in check with demand. It only requires the installation of smart meters and TOU (time of use) variable electric rates to make it work. It can be adopted at any rate and only benefits as much as it is adopted. It also allows Distributed Generation (DG) from any small source to compete fairly in priceContinue

Getting People Behind A Plan And Getting The Government Out Of Our Shoestrings

So many people keep asking for the government to step in and do this or that to further some cause. All I can say is haven't they been watching the government's track record? They can't do anything right. I will keep my comments relative to the energy industry for now, but keep in mind that many of the ideas I'll pass along for thought could apply to any number of areas of government intrusion.

What most people are asking for when they ask for help is a subsidy. There are m… Continue

The Picken's Plan is a great start but...

Hi everyone,

Many people have requested that I start a blog to lay out all my thoughts, insight and plans in one place so they could be discussed in more detail. Since I'm firmly behind Boone Pickens' Plan, and I agree that his plan is a great first major start, I decided to start it here. Maybe that'll give my comments a small level of credibility. :)

Here goes... Wind is a great resource. It has the potential to offset enormous amounts of electricity generation produced by less desire… Continue

Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I've been researching it for 30 years and working toward some solution for 10. I've been concentrated on a single solution and starting up a manufacturing business for it for the last 4 years. I've discussed almost every imaginable issue related to all forms of energy, it's regulations and solutions with experts in almost every field. I've gained a tremendous insight into how things are done and why they're not.
What excites you about this campaign?
I believe the only solution is a bottom-up, grassroots-driven one. Politics will never change. They favor the goals of those with the pull. This is about putting the big energy companies out of business completely, so how can we allow them to be a part of any of the solution?
What do you want to do to help?
I want to narrow the focus of the plan to the most basic roots that will actually cause change. Awareness is nice, but fickle unless there's a hard goal. Too much misdirected passion is directed towards solutions that have inherant problems. The Picken's Plan only has correct solutions but they do not go far enough. With some other changes, it could be expanded to offer the world nearly free energy (in all forms) for a simple one-time purchase. My goal is to show the bigger picture to that world.

Haven't been able to get a response from the pickens team on an idea. Maybe you have some pull some where. Assuming the new wind farm is on hold, why not setup a fund to add a windmill to an existing wind farm ? I would contribute to it. My original reason for joining was to increase the use of wind energy.

Windspire will be featured on a special episode of ABC's "20/20" on June 19th at 10/9C. The episode highlights the impact the new Windspire manufacturing facility is having in Michigan by putting ex-autoworkers back to work.

Great Causes bring out great people. As a 25-year veteran in Power Generation & Energy Development, let me thank you for getting involved and extend an offer to provide insight and assistance in your local effort. This is a very doable plan and it starts with people like you in making it a success. The key to the plans success will be communicating to the masses. It starts with e-mailing 25 non-Pickens Plan members on a Bi-weekly basis with information on energy activities that they can relate to and gain there interest. We need to communicate reality not dreams for unfortunately the American public has a very short attention span and most are living day to day. The Pickens Plan as it stands right now is at the 50,000 ft level. We need to develop a more detailed comprehensive national execution plan for the next five years. The first section should incorporate conservation and placing public pressure on elected officials at all levels of government to engage and approve a national plan while in parallel we are designing, constructing and installing the new infrastructure systems. Once we have the grass roots base involved at this level, we can then continue to communicate the next steps of the plan to them to help bring us to the Energy Independence we are looking to accomplish

A message from John C. Oelund to all members of Pickens Plan District Group WA-08 on PickensPlan!

WA-08 Members,

Steve Wilmorth has stepped forward to be WA-08's Technical Group Leader. Steve will be a Member of the Steering Committee, and provide assistance to other group members on Pickens Plan details. He will be keeping a "Pickens Plan Q & A" discussion group going, so please send the tough questions to him, and he will research as need be, and post a response. He will help with speech contents (and may be speaking himself) and be available to review any group materials we release.

Steve has many years of business leadership, and has a lot of fascinating knowledge relating to politics and local events in Washington State relating to energy plans. Did you know we have big plans for wind right here in the state?

Please help me welcome Steve to this position!

Thanks to you all,

John C. Oelund

We loaded the companies on your "Support These Flegling Companies" List ... to our BurningFan application .... you can now add them with graphics and links to your page. We will do the same for Pillar when your ready. The opportunity for green, organic marketing is outstanding since the users get to control the companies they support.

We built this web application initially to support charities and causes, though have added commercial companies to pay for more development. The app was approved last week by Ning and is now available to all Pickens Plan members and to all of the 625,000 Ning communities. With the name BurningFan it is obviously targeted to the loyal fan.

I hope you like the application ... we don't collect any personal data and all banners are associated with a random code.

The banners from your list are in the Green Channel under Energy and Transportation. The app is simple to load. We generally recommend no more than 12 banners in each category ... but it is in your control, so have at it.

I'm not investing much these days. IF I'm right, around March may be the time to get back in. I'm still more optimistic on Brazilian stocks and just recieved dividends. PBR, RIO, GGB (oil, mining and steel) NONE of my U.S. stocks paid any. NAT (oil tankers) paid div. of 161 per share and the stock is cheap; I may buy more of them.
