Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
My partner and I have just started a renewable energy system installation company in the Chicagoland area. We believe in the point of use production model. Every building should produce it's own energy.
What excites you about this campaign?
Everything. I have been interested in alternative power generation methods for a number of years and was pleasantly surprised to fin an ex oil man pushing this idea.
What do you want to do to help?
Whatever we can.

Just quickly to tell you one big principle of electricity is: The rentability or to get the cheaper possible electricity is when many people use the same source of energy.

The time you`ll be cooking has not to be the same with your neighboor. That way the company providing electricity can make it`s deal.

Secondly it`s all about security. The electrical business is still the most controlled and closed because of all high risks connected. Don`t have a wind mill in the heart of Chicago, where there won`t be enough wind. Don`t either have a bank of battery in you basement as it`s explosive and corrosive.

We are about each house having solar panel on the roof, but let`s keep in mind all security issues

Dear Pickens Plan Member,

Thank you for joining! Where do we start? For a wealth of information, we can look to Europe as our model for developing sustainable renewable energy. Countries like Denmark and Germany lead the way in this effort and have been there for the past 10-20 years - even more. Germany’s commitment through cooperatives and local municipalities has installed 19,000+ wind turbines and millions of solar collectors, both for solar hot water and electricity.

The onshore and offshore installation of wind turbines in Denmark is producing 20% of all their electrical needs. (Please see examples in the photos on my page).

I mention these examples to give us a direction for inspiration and point to where we could be heading with the Pickens Plan. The technology is already there and we do not have to reinvent the wheel. These are a few of the websites I would suggest you visit to see what other have done and are doing:

1) 1) The Solar Village – Freiburg, Germany. See: http://www.thesolarvillage.com/
2) The Folkecenter for Renewable Energy – Denmark.
See: http://www.folkecenter.net/gb/overview/publications/
Under VARIOUS, read: The transition from Fossil Fuels to the Renewable Energies
The whole website is excellent and you could spend hours there.
3) Google: Samso, Denmark. This is an island off the coast of Denmark that is completely self-sustaining. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/07/080707fa_fact_kolbert
4) Read the article written by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. titled: “Global Warming: A Real Solution”

Here are a few great videos to see: “Saved by the Sun” a PBS NOVA video, and “A Crude Awakening” by Basil Gemlpke, et al. Americans need to mobilize and pressure our government representatives both on the state and national level. The Pickens Plan is a good place to foster discussion and share ideas and PUSH this plan! We can all share in this vital common cause. Good luck in your quest for a better America….. Lee
