- My father came to this country over thirty years ago from the Dominican Republic(DR). As a first generation american I had my father wanted to teach me about where I came from by sending me to DR almost every other year since I turned nine. It allowed me to understand the world three dimensionally as I spent my summers in a country as underdeveloped as DR. But as I spent more time there began to see how an energy deprived country came up with different ways to fill their energy needs. In the rural areas they continued to use wood and coal for cooking. In the cities people had cisterns on the roof to heat their water. They also had cars running on natural gas. This was a very eye opening experience for me to see a car have a tank in the trunk of their car. Just last year my father converted his 1987 Mercedes Benz 300sel to run on NG. It frustrates me to know that around the world people are able to choose what kind of fuel they can use in their vehicles and that in the us we are limited to the use of gasoline. I would like your help in getting information out to the public on how to switch to NGV.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- Someone as successful as Pickens is pushing ahead for alternative fuel and energy. He understands that the recession we are in now is due to the shortsightedness of our political leaders in not seeing the future of diversifing our energy needs. His vision is one that i stand behind and hope to help push america forward into the twenty first century.
- What do you want to do to help?
- I would like to campaign for Pickens plan in my area and beyond. I would also like to help others and myself find green jobs related to the Pickens plan.

With little effort, we have the ability here for you to send a letter to our Representatives in Washington and Governor, too. Go to THE PLEDGE (at the very top of this page on the blue header) On the top of the pledge page there are three rectangular buttons- two blue ones and ONE RED BUTTON, that reads "CONTACT CONGRESS" . Fill in the short, standard form. Done!
YOU CAN ALSO HELP BY BRINGING 5 FOLKS TO JOIN the site today, so that we can build a voice big enough that Congress will finally have to listen to us, instead of the lobbyists and special interests, who are trying to derail this historic effort.

PICKENS U has been formed for college and university students to get involved. If you know of a student who would like to become an ambassador to helped coordinate the pledge drive please submit names to Pickens U site. This would be good for job resume.
THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONSWe need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan.
A GROUP FOR EVERYONE. Join the Guides and Materials for New Members Group. Lot's of good information there.
Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, your area, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.
