- I am a member of the American Solar Energy Society, the North Carolina Sustainable Energy Association and the Green Builders Association. Additionally, I am a volunteer for NC Green Power. I have been passionately interested in sustainable energy for many years and I have been sharing it's merits at the grassroots level.
- What excites you about this campaign?
- I am interested in reducing to eliminating the nation's dependence on foreign oil. I am excited that Mr. Picken's is spearheading the effort. It lends credibility to the movement.

i can notdo much to organize any effort. i am 78 yrs. old and altho
interested in advancing the solor and other alternative energy fuels, i am not well enough to help. but i can urge the people in congress to vote. if i can get a list of their names... and their e-mailss in washington d.c.
i have severe back problems and am facing a 2nd back surgery this next month. but i can sit at this computer and write letters. thru february 2009~~

When will we ever have a chance like this again to become energy independant before we give this country away?
Our new Congress is sworn in less than 10 days from now - they must be told loudly and clearly that we demand action to reduce our dependance on foreign oil!
WE CAN DO THIS. We need your help. THERE IS NO INFLUENCE WITHOUT NUMBERS!
Please download the petition, get them filled in and fax them back fast. If all of us do this small thing we can build this effort to millions! They will help your district get to 500, too!

I was like you - unsure how to help organize then I had a realization: the BEST way to help organize is to spread the word. I discuss these issues everyday with my teenage stepchildren, with my stepmother, with friends, family, even just strangers in line at the grocery store. It's surprising how most people are concerned about these issues but rarely begin the conversation themselves. If everyone invites just 5 of their friends to join us here it will help T. Boone Pickens to get our unified message in front of Congress and get our concerns addressed.
$700 BILLION PER YEAR
Big oil profits are unconscionable and oil futures speculators have pushed oil prices into territory that is disastrous for the long term health of the US economy. We are transferring $700 billion each year to unstable and antagonistic regimes. Americans are angry and ready as never before, to take dramatic steps to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. A plan for ending our dependence on foreign oil has appeared on the horizon and surprisingly it comes from an oil man but he happens to be a patriotic American.
PLEASE SHARE THIS PLAN
with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. From your own experience you know it is very much like simply signing a petition. The larger our membership the more likely we will be successful in getting Congress to provide effective incentives for alternative and renewable energies and in insuring that our future president will treat energy independence as a matter of the greatest urgency, applying the same kind of leadership as JFK exercised when he led us with his stirring challenge to put a man on the moon in 10 years.
THERE IS NO TIME TO DELAY
…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to think that we could be looking back and apologizing to our children that we chose not to get this done when we had the chance.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONS
We need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Write to your Congressman/woman. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan. Print downloadable flyers and put them in your car and/or business window.
I am reminded of an ancient admonition,
“Work while it is day for the night is coming when no man can work.”
YOU MAY FEEL INSIGNIFICANT
