Wind and Solar Power for a Secure America

Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have had solar panels on my home for 25 years for hot water heat. I am planning to install a small wind power generator on my property as well as mini-hydro in my stream and photovoltaic panels to all tie into our local power grid in the future.
What excites you about this campaign?
I think that it is about time a futurist with the clout and financial backing steps up to to plate to show America how is should be done. Other nations like Germany, Denmark and Spain have been doing it for years. Besides the beauty of old Europe, you can't help from being impressed by what these countries are doing to solve their energy problems. We should have been on this track a long time ago.
What do you want to do to help?
I will generate clean e-mail campaigns and inform as many people as possible in my community about the "PLAN".

Sure Walter, I got your request for friend status, but had to decline as I am using my facebook page differently than for PP business...The two are separate entities and I do not feel it is beneficial to mix the two, except for alerts and such. As for the HW systems, there are many out there and I will eventually find the right ones for me, as I want to use radiant heating and hot water via a series of collectors and a larger 250 gallon tank system. Currently I do not need or want more than that! Still working on issues with the Wellhead with BP and Petromist, so I am very engaged so far. Will touch base with you a little later, but feel free to write me.

Hi, just wanted to become a resource or another friend for Solar Energy in Oklahoma. I've been in Pickens Plan for 2 years so I know most of the groups. Leslie said you were a guy to get to know and I am always glad to have help in getting solar started in America, land of the underfunded and under solarized! I want solar thermal for heat as the price for NG is too high in Oklahoma. They found a WAY to rip people off by raising the cost of delivery instead of raising the cost of the NG. It is crooked, but that is how ONG survives today...Friend me on Facebook if you have the time....Gregory L. Smith

Harvest Time

Every seed takes time to germinate.
So too in the fields of the soul.
We must never give up and sow
because the results do not
immediate to our eyes.
Let us wait with patience.
In the right moment, the seeds
have driven in the soil of hearts,
there will produce mature fruit.
Understanding and sow Joy, Peace and
Courage, Forgiveness and Love.
Jesus bless you have a good night.

Hello Walter,

Glad this very long, cold, snowy winter is finally behind us. The last time it hit 63 degrees here was back on Nov.15th (6 months ago!!!!!!!). Anyway my five panel system has been able to maintain 250 gallons in my tank at around 120 degrees most of the winter. Working on a whole new heating system for the house incorporating the panels, tanks, turbine wood boiler and propane back-up. I'm guessing I'll be done mid-July. I'll post pictures.

I'm also working on a roof system for the house so I can grow grass on it. We designed it for the weight but I have never gotten to it. The roof is a flat, shed style and has a 2.4/12 pitch and I have been testing different ideas for the last three winters. I'm going to use a 40 mil HDPE liner laid over strips of plastic (for drainage and venting). Two inches of 3/4" stone will be placed on top of the liner. Believe it or not this only weighs in at 9 lbs/sf.. By blocking the UV's from the current rubber rolled roofing material I'm hoping it will last longer than I will. There's always something going on here.

Thanks for thinking of me,
Dennis

Walter-

Great pictures! My hope is that the USA will soon leap into this arena and be the leader we need to be within the global landscape. Thanks for your work and sharing. Jim

Hello again Walter! thank you very much for the support and vote of confidence! so far I have found nothing but a warm and welcome greeting from everyone that I have interacted with! I appreciate the opportunity to be apart of the PickenPlan, and it's dedication to the new Green Energy programs! I look forward to any and all help in my quest, and in return, maybe somehow, I can find a way to be able to do my part to return the favor(s).
