Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
As a child growing up in Southern Kansas, oil was an integral part of my life and energy has always been a high level interest. I was also raised as a conservationist. Man should be the stewart of valuable resources, such as oil.

In the 1980's I toured the country on an alternate energy survey visiting coal mines, power plants, oil refineries and investigating wind turbine entrepreneurs. On returning to work I recommended that Marathon Electric create induction generators to serve this emerging energy market. Thousands of units were produced and are in use.

In the 1990's I was a member of the Marathon Electric Dow Chemical quality transformation team.

I started Affinity Systems LLC, a consulting company in 1997 and advocate the use of ERP and Lean to properly use resources. In addition, Affinity Systems LLC advocates an energy audit at every account.

I recently published a book, "Pathway to Adaptability - Executive Lean and Eight Steps to the Adaptive Enterprise". This book advocates a top down governance process and alternate energy as the new core driver for the American factory system. It lets us leapfrog the other production systems.

To this point, advocating for American manufacturing, Affinity Systems LLC started competitiveamerica.us. There will be energy whitepapers posted on this web-site in the near future,

I recently submitted a letter to one of the leaders of The New North, a regional consortium in Eastern Wisconsin that is re-engineering energy, manufacturing, education and government, suggesting they implement the Pickens program within the region. I will follow up at the regional meeting on Dec 12, 2008 and beyond.
What excites you about this campaign?
I disagree with the $700 billion number used by the Pickens program to quantify the dollar transfer to the oil producing countries. In reality, it is half that figure and it does not all go to the middle east. The United States sources oil from many countries, both friend and foe. It makes little sense to reduce imports from Canada and Mexico. If the focus can be placed on eliminating oil from unfriendly countries, that will be great. In reality, we need to seek independence or at least continuity to refuel manufacturing and rebuild the American factory system.

What excites me is the opportunity to reduce dependence on imports and put the money to use in the United States where it can create jobs and rebuild wealth. It also provides the opportunity to rebuild our manufacturing around the solid principles of alternate energy and conservation. While environmentalism is a wonderful objective, it will cost money and until the market finds a way to fund it, it will not happen. The solution is to retool energy and help the environment in the process.
What do you want to do to help?
Last year we started a company called Phase Four Graphics LLC. We have hundreds of photos of energy production facilities and sources. A partially completed book on energy will be finished this fall. We have a different perspective on energy but the Pickens plan is certainly one of the solutions.

We will use my web-site, competitiveamerica to promote the cause.

Affinity Systems LLC does publc speaking and we have very professional presentations from Phase Four Graphics. We are willing to give presentations to interested groups in support of the program and how it helps to bebuild the American factory system. In conjunction, these movements could create tens of thousands of new jobs.

Where the Action Is – Regional Collaboration Groups

The mission of the Pickens group is to focus public support towards national and state lawmakers to replace natural gas for electrical generation by converting to wind generation and using the gas for transportation. These are critically important components of our total energy system. Getting them right are requirements for America’s future.

There are, however, other groups that heavily influence the direction energy will take and how it will be used. These include regional development groups,… Continue

Replicate the Phoenix - Use energy to rise from the ashes

It has been apparent for years that America’s economic situation was unsustainable. The impact of the collapse on American enterprises was predictable. The precise timing was not.

While some may believe the chaos occurred suddenly, the sledgehammers have been pounding on the pillars of wealth generation for nearly two decades.

1. Over forty percent of our manufacturing, based on GDP, has been sent offshore. Greater then three million jobs have been lost to outsourcing and productivity increase… Continue

Hi Wayne!

Welcome to an exciting time at Pickens Plan! We have grown to almost 1.4 million suporters since June - just 5 months. There are now less than 75 days until Inauguration Day - we must put it into overdrive!

The Senate's "Gang of 20" and Thomas Friedman, celebrated columnist and author, have all stated that the only way to get the action we need on energy is to build this grass roots effort to un-ignorable heights. (Read at DAILY PICKENS) We need to keep our eye on that goal!

Please get 10 signed pledges faxed in today. It is easy, Boone has done the hard work already. When I brought mine to the UPS Store to fax them, the new owner and his wife signed the pledge. They were huge supporters, but had not had time to go online and just do it. There are so many folks out there like them - we just need to spread the word AND take names.

Many hands make light work. Can you help? JUST 10!

1. Download the pledge/petition :

http://media.pickensplan.com/downloads/PP/pollingsignupsheet.pdf

2. get them signed

3. fax them in to the 888# at the bottom of the pledge, asap.

Gratefully
Kim

Welcome!
We are a voluntary community of individuals who are placing our combined support behind T. Boone Pickens and his efforts to send our government a clear (heard) message that we must reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign oil through the use of all domestic energy alternatives. This site is a place to interact with fellow Pickens Plan supporters, keep up with events and opportunities to help get more involvement. .
We need to Push.PickensPlan.com – or “Push” as we like to call it.
Our future really does depend on us at this point in time!
If not now, WHEN? If not you, WHO?
Look up your regional leader. Also Click on (Group) Guides and materials.
If your able Check out cafepress.com for more advertizing material.
Again Welcome; Tom
I am proud to put my efforts towards this cause.

Well as they say (the large lady voiced the end). Neither candidate openly gave his support outright for our plan. Both new about it and to a degree felt the intense support behind it. It goes back to another old saying (be careful what you wish for, or on the political platform be careful how far you put your foot in the door.)
Keep in mind As Sara Lee tells us (you cannot please all the people all the time). As we know in politics, it’s merely a game of giving the mass majority a small taste in hopes they will buy the whole meal.

You are totaly correct in the 700 bil. In order to bring attention that the overall expense was large and needs to be addressed, using a ball park # helped get the point across.
Look forward to hearing much from your bank of knowledge.

Hi Wayne,

Welcome and THANK YOU for joining the Pickens Plan. I just wanted to let you know that a real person out here appreciates you taking that first step.

After you've had a chance to settle in, please let me know if there's anything I can do to guide your path. The basic first steps are reviewing the current topics in the Forum, and when you are comfortable, letting others know about the website. The people here are interested in making the plan a success and those you invite should be able to see for themselves that this is the right place to be.

Here are further steps you might consider.

- Visit the My Energy page and get involved.
- Work your contacts to increase press coverage.
- Write to congressional representatives directly.
- Use Pickens Action buttons or call (202)225-3121.
- Speak out for ending our dependence on foreign oil.
- Write letters to the editor of your local paper.
- Download flyers/etc from here or here.
- Download the Petition and ask others to sign it.
- Start a company to build wind turbines/solar panels.
- Start a financing firm to invest in those companies.
- Tell everyone you know about PickensPlan.com.

Decide for yourself what you can do, but definitely do something.

Welcome once again and thanks for signing up.

Clynton
