Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
Studied International Economics at the University of Colorado. Took course in Urban Economics, the "economics of location". Graduated in 1973 at the time of the Oil Embargo. Worked against dependence on fossil fuel and foreign oil all my working life. Helped organize "Denver Bike-to-Work Day" and "Denver Telecommuting Conference" in 1993. Rode a bicycle to work for three years.
What excites you about this campaign?
I am excited that we finally understand that the words renewable" and "sustainable" have finally entered our vocabulary. We can "conserve" and "be conservative" in our use of transportation, learning again to "live where we work and work where we live." Going to war so that we can commute 100 miles to work is wrong.
What do you want to do to help?
I want to help us learn to conserve our use of transportation in order to conserve our use of energy. When we find an inexhaustible source of non-polluting energy, maybe we can drive and fly all over the place again. I could get to work faster on my bicycle than I could drive... 16 miles.

WASHINGTON D.C. - U.S. Congressman Dan Boren released the following statement today in regard to the announcement by the Potential Gas Committee (PGC) and the Colorado School of Mines on the abundance of domestic natural gas resources. Boren was joined earlier this spring by Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson (CT-01), Congressman John Sullivan (OK-1), and several others in announcing the introduction of H.R. 1835 the New Alternative Transportation to Give Americans Solutions Act, or NAT GAS Act. The legislation, which would significantly expand the use of natural gas as an alternative to conventional transportation fuel, could quickly reduce the nation’s dependence on foreign energy while simultaneously reducing transportation fuel costs, greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles, and urban pollution where dense vehicular fleets are prevalent. Since its introduction the NAT GAS Act has garnered the support of a bipartisan group of 66 co-sponsors in U.S. House of Representatives.
Congressman Boren: “Industry leaders, including Aubrey McClendon, T. Boone Pickens, and many others, have been highlighting for some time now the abundance of domestic gas reserves that we should be developing as a bridge fuel for powering our nation’s energy future. Natural gas is a cleaner, cheaper alternative to traditional transportation fuel and we must harness it as soon as possible to rid ourselves of an overwhelming and harmful reliance of foreign energy sources. The report released today is yet another example of the growing case for increased use of natural gas and for legislation like my NAT GAS Act, H.R. 1835. Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson, Congressman John Sullivan, and I believe the NAT GAS Act can be a defining moment in the history of our nation’s energy policy – and this report helps illustrate that point.”

I sugest we urge these leader too suport the points below in the stimulus Bill which will build upon 2008's successes in the wind energy sector: Even if your not for the stimulus bill if it happens lets make sure it does the most good . Let make it win win.
o Extension of the Production Tax Credit
o Implementation of a renewable infrastructure loan program
• We hope they're willing to doing more on the natural gas side and provide the incentives that will greatly expand the use of domestic natural gas as a vehicle fuel in America. Expanded use of Natural Gas Vehicles (NGVs) will help wean us off of foreign oil and create new American jobs. These incentives include:
o Increasing the vehicle tax credit to make natural gas trucks more accessible for heavy and medium duty truck operators
o Extending the fuel tax credit
• The Pickens Plan works best as a whole plan—wind and natural gas—and we hope Members of Congress will support that. The Stimulus Bill is a strong start but there's more we can—and should—do.
Thanks for all you do Bill. I am jumpy about the stimulus bill but looks like it will pass one way or the other sooo we as it heads to the senate we have a chance of cuting our losses if your agin it... or increasing our gains if yer for it.
Bill, Good to hear from you. My husband is an avid cyclist and I also rode my bike to work for 3 years (12 miles) while living in California. Stay with the networking it gets easier, if I can do it you can too.
