Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
trying to educate myself about the problem and solution. so far I have merely changed all my incandescent bulbs to compact fluorescents and attended a couple of local lectures.
What excites you about this campaign?
The Plan. It's all about 'The Plan".
I'm also in the middle of reading "Flat Hot and Crowded" by the same author of 'The World is Flat'. It should be the manifesto for all in the Pickens Army. I highly recommend the book.
What do you want to do to help?
Not sure yet. I probably just want to start as a conduit for the Plan and the Army.

Wall Street is listening!

I was just listening to CNBC when my attention was grabbed by a business news article they were about to do on the smart grid. I'm not an expert on the stock market but I believe this is both good and positive news for us all. It appears that an ETF(exchange traded fund) has been created to trade in companies that are in smart grid businesses. The stock symbol for the fund is GRID and it will create a basket of 29 companies that work with smart grid infrastructure, equipment and components for t… Continue

Does improving energy efficiency actually increase the carbon footprint.

This is a very thought provoking article about how increases in energy efficiency may lead to increases in energy use:
The Jevons Paradox

It is followed by some interesting commentary.

WIND POWER IN TEXAS BEGINS TO REDUCE THE COST OF ELECTRICITY.

Just picked this off LinkedIn. It's an excerpt from a report from Bernstein Research. We need
more research like this:

"The rapid growth of wind power in Texas is already reducing consumption of natural gas and lowering the cost of electricity generation in the state, according to a Wall Street research group. Bernstein Research reports that the rising output of wind turbines in Texas — the world’s sixth-largest producer of wind power — has eliminated the need to fire up natural gas-powered gen… Continue

Hi Allen,
We all need Worriers.
The guy you were thinking of was Jonathan Goodwin. There is an article about him and his company in "Fast Company" http://www.fastcompany.com/magazine/120/motorhead-messiah.html
I had come across this and it was what steered me into duel fuels such as hydrogen.
John has a H1 hummer with 600 hp that gets 60mpg. Bottom line is the best inventions come from garages not large companies.
Look at me, retired at 36 and now board to death at 43 I start with hydrogen. Well I couldn't get it to work. If I was some big company the budget would say stop. I demanded to succeed and after 10 months, about ready to give up, I did it. Jonathan Goodwin is the same way.
I am all for every incentive for renewable energies.
We have to face the facts. We are being bam boozled by the auto industry.
Do we really have a foreign oil issue or do we have an auto industry tied to the government handing us what they want.
Beyond a shadow of a doubt, the computer in your car is designed to give you a predetermined amount of fuel economy and I can prove it.
It's another story in itself.
Allen, we are pressing for massive infrastructure spending, all we really have to do is press for a auto industry that can do it's best.
The truth is it is easier to get the government to spend trillions on infrastructure than it is to get the auto industry to fess up to years of abuse.
Auto fuel economy can only come up at a pace that will be unnoticed to the public.
I have some interesting stuff coming soon. If and when it's in hand we should meet.

Hi Allen glad your there and rallying the troops. Honestly this sight has become tuff for me to navigate. I have done my best and rallied very early on and have brought many people to it using multiple emailing along with word of mouth.
Things have change with me since starting of this campaign. I have developed duel fuel technologies in cars and can't even find a spot to put it in the blogs. The technology is physically proven that it is feasible to get 200% increase in economy from all cars.
I see Mike Dolan talking about a Buick getting 5 or 6 MPG. It is very rare that people realize that the heaviest most unaerodynamic vehicle, a 80,000LB semi, gets 8 mpg these days fully loaded and busses in traffic get 8 also. The public has been tricked into thinking that 30 in a compact car is good. It's actually ridiculous. Why does an 80,000 lb Freightliner get 8 and a Ford Excursion SUV with a gas engine get less?
The worst part is the government is getting in the way and distorting the truth about this. Dateline actually did a show on an inventor they labeled a con man. Dennis Lee. He is one inventor that I have been following. He has cars that get 120+mpg. Dateline tore him apart and ended his business. No more 120mpg cars thanks to dateline. He has technology that will bring economy that is so large it can’t be discussed as most can’t believe how bad we are being duped by the auto industry. Use the tractor trailer example. An 80,000 lb truck gets 8 mpg with current technology, why doesn’t a 8,000lb SUV get at least 80. Think about it. Is the 100MPG auto a myth or suppression?
I can tell you I have a car that gets 30+% more MPG than stock and that is only the tip of the iceberg.
I have no faith left in the government. Ending foreign oil imports can be halted now, not in years with billions spent on infrastructure, without a single conversion to Natural gas.
The deeper I get in these technologies and the further I succeed, the more depressed I get about the Pickens Plan as I know for certain the technology is here right in front of us and it is not being given to us. This is all about control.
Don’t be fooled. Energy independence can be had right now.

Aha....In the spirit of the 70s, My grandmother gave me and my two brothers her used Buick Elecktra 225. We could fit eight people in the trunk when we snuck in to the drive-in theatre but it only got 5 or 6 mpg. My buddy bought a 1976 Honda CVCC and after a slight modification to the carberator, he was getting upwards of 80 mpg (no kidding). The only problem is that the CVCC could fit in the trunk of the Buick.

Sound familiar? George Santayana (another great pragmatist) stated something about not remembering history.

Funny that the only CNG passenger vehicle out right now is the Honda Civic GX. Put your money on Honda, they are doing it again. If it up to you or I, we are not doomed to repeat it! --- MPD
