Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
i have studied A/E for years and am very interested in solar and wind forms of power... i have gladly defended myself for years about my supposed liberal tree hugging environmental concerns. Here I am learning about Natural Gas....its very interesting. However, it is crucial that politics stays out of these discussions. People cant contribute their great ideas if the atmosphere is confrontational and hostile.
What excites you about this campaign?
it is crucial to break our independence from oil, both foreign (for political reasons) and domestic (for environmental reasons) and a necessity if we are going to stop global warming and hang on to the resources we have left and save the planet
What do you want to do to help?
anything i can from my computer and telephone plus events once its established what i can do here in florida...i was recently displaced by my employer after 10yrs and am currently looking for a job (like this- one that pays the bills but is also very fulfilling and through which I can give back !!!) i have superior communication/computer/office skills and would be very grateful for a chance.

Hi Amy. Thanks for the notice. I just have so little time to spend at this that I often fire things off without too much thought. If you are looking for a job, why not start a ning or spruz website for your community. Call it a community alternate energy association - or something like that and get all your neighbors on board for some kind of community project. It is this kind of social network that will be replacing the local newspaper/radio station/townhall/community center etc. Pool resources for local projects. You need your neighbors to help you fix your community.
Best wishes in your job hunt.

Suzuki Motor Corp exhibited its "Burgman Fuel Cell Scooter" for reference at Tokyo Motor Show 2009, which opens to the public from Oct 24 through Nov 4, 2009.

Suzuki increased the amount of hydrogen fuel that can be stored in the scooter by using a hydrogen tank with a maximum working pressure of 70MPa. The "crosscage," the fuel-cell bike it showed off at Tokyo Motor Show 2007, has a tank with a maximum working pressure of 35MPa.

The volume of the new tank is about 10L. And the Burgman can run about 350km when it runs on a flat, paved road at 30km/h.

The fuel cell unit is an air-cooled PEFC (polymer electrolyte fuel cell) manufactured by Intelligent Energy Ltd. According to Suzuki, the PEFC enables to reduce the number of auxiliaries such as compressors, compared with a water-cooled PEFC.

Though the company did not reveal the output and other specifications of the Burgman, it said that the scooter has a performance equivalent to a scooter equipped with a gasoline engine of 50 to 125cc displacement. A lithium-ion battery unit with a capacity of about 500Wh is used to supply power for acceleration and to store regenerative electric power and surplus electricity generated by the fuel cell unit.

The Burgman is based on the "Burgman 125" scooter, which Suzuki is producing in Spain and selling in Europe. The company remodeled the existing scooter so that it becomes easier to receive a permission to conduct a field test on a public road. The dimensions of the Burgman Fuel Cell Scooter is 2,055 (L) x 740 (W) x 1,360mm (H).

Hi Amy,
Yep, Gibsonburg is very close to our town, Bowling Green and since you have relatives in Toledo, you must know a lot about the state of affairs here. Have to say love your photo, then ask if the frog is real. Thanks for your note.

Hi Amy, Marcy Kaptur is, fortunately for the people of Toledo, the Congressional Rep. for Ohio's 9th District. She is also featured in Michael Moore's new movie, Capitalism, A Love Story. Haven't seen the movie yet, but do plan on it. She is known in these parts as the "Conscious of the Dems." We are working on meeting with her or one of her staff. That lady gets things done!!! Right now she is doing some "ground-breaking work" on foreclosure prevention. The unemployment rate in Toledo, a major part of her district is at 15 percent. Veronica Gold
