i have studied A/E for years and am very interested in solar and wind forms of power... i have gladly defended myself for years about my supposed liberal tree hugging environmental concerns. Here I am learning about Natural Gas....its very interesting. However, it is crucial that politics stays out of these discussions. People cant contribute their great ideas if the atmosphere is confrontational and hostile.

What excites you about this campaign?

it is crucial to break our independence from oil, both foreign (for political reasons) and domestic (for environmental reasons) and a necessity if we are going to stop global warming and hang on to the resources we have left and save the planet

What do you want to do to help?

anything i can from my computer and telephone plus events once its established what i can do here in florida...i was recently displaced by my employer after 10yrs and am currently looking for a job (like this- one that pays the bills but is also very fulfilling and through which I can give back !!!) i have superior communication/computer/office skills and would be very grateful for a chance.

We must develop a long-term energy strategy that alleviates high energy prices and reduces our dependency on foreign oil while protecting our precious environment. The prices of home energy and gasoline have risen in recent months, leaving many struggling to afford driving to work and heating or cooling their homes.

Natural gas usage shows promise as way to lower energy prices and greenhouse gas emissions in the short term. Florida currently consumes over 894 billion cubic feet of natural gas each year, and most of Florida's counties have access to natural gas.

In the long run, however, we need to shift towards alternative energy and to drastically increase the efficiency of our cars, buildings, and appliances.

I will keep your views in mind as the Senate continues to consider ways to address America's energy problems. Please do not hesitate to contact me again.

The heat energy generated and captive in the interior space of the attic will literally heat the interior volume of 141,075 cubic feet to 78 degrees (Plus) on a normal winter day. The exterior walls a 12” thick and has an R-27 rating and the attic ceiling is 12” of fiberglass batting. On Saturday the 14th of November, 09, I went to BARRON Heating/air Conditioning Company to inquire if information is known as to a method of calculating the amount of Btu’s collectable in 26,125 cubic feet of air contained within the attic space? Mr. Gary Lee's, a certified Heating Engineer, answer was very logical in that the ability of any specific “Cubic Foot of Air” to hold energy changes every second and the fact it has produced excess heat, above and beyond the amount need for the last 25 years indicates the “Volume and btu’s” are in excess of what is required to maintain 74 degree’s or more. 225,330 Cubic Feet "FREE Heat"

There is an obvious push on not only using less energy, but in finding other forms of energy that will allow the world to recover from the years of literally pillaging its natural resources. Germany has been using some pretty innovative techniques to lead the way and their designers are coming up with more energy efficient homes all the time. However, with the promotion of using a smart grid Germany hopes to make people even more aware of the energy that they are using and more importantly, wasting.

One of the problems with the general public using too much electricity is that at any given time, you have no idea how much you are actually using. If people could actually see what their power usage was at a specific time, it may have a big enough effect on them to get them to cut back. Seeing the energy pile up as you are using it would be a definite wakeup call for a lot of people. This is the whole purpose of the smart grid Germany is developing. This information will be readily available and will hopefully result in lower usages and smaller bills for the consumer.

Current grid technology does not allow for this, but with the smart grid in Germany is looking to change all of that. This smart grid technology is very important because if renewable energy as a legitimate power source is going to be a viable option en masse, people are going to have to be aware of what they are using and what is still available to them.

While there are power stations that are solar powered in various areas that are being introduced as alternative energy to get people off of the standard electric grid, many homes are still supplying their own solar power. Supplying power on a grand scale is much more involved and part of the success of the entire project will revolve around users being able to conserve energy so that these renewable energy sources can be successful as they are being introduced to communities.

Currently, the only way for solar power to be stored is through batteries. In addition to innovations like the smart grid in Germany is developing, everyone is looking for ways to store solar power that will be more efficient. Currently, once the battery runs down, it has to recharge. To make the most of this energy source, something more reliable will eventually have to be introduced. The smart grid Germany is working on is one step, but there is plenty of room for further improvement.

On July 8, 2009, Sen. Robert Menendez (D-NJ) introduced S. 1408, the New Alternative Transportation to Give Americans Solutions (NAT GAS) Act. This bill would expand and extend several tax incentives to encourage the manufacturing of natural gas vehicles and associated infrastructure in the United States. The NAT GAS Act was referred to the Senate Committee on Finance where it awaits further consideration. Although I am not a member of this committee, I will be sure to keep your views in mind should this bill receive the attention of the full Senate.

If you are looking for a job, why not start a ning or spruz website for your community. Call it a community alternate energy association - or something like that and get all your neighbors on board for some kind of community project. It is this kind of social network that will be replacing the local newspaper/radio station/townhall/community center etc. Pool resources for local projects. You need your neighbors to help you fix your community.
