Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:

I comprehend the fundamental reality that with gas prices and oil imports rising dramatically with each passing year, our national security and prosperity requires that we chart a fresh course based upon renewable, cleaner energies.

Charting a course towards renewable energy sources is clearly the way ahead in the 21st century. However, many of these technologies are a decade or more away. In the meantime, I have supported a gas tax moratorium, but I believe that only through permanently abolishing this regressive tax can we bring gas prices down for good and drive economic growth. I am also supporting measures to bring down the high cost of home heating oil, and supports grants for innovation to use alternative fuels for home heating purposes.

As a state and as a nation, I am fighting to launch a concerted drive for energy independence, as other states and nations have done. Fighting to mobilize the scientific community, promote production of fuel efficient technologies, invest in more efficient factories and appliances, and expand the development of alternative energy sources such as wind, solar, and biofuels; I understand the concept that energy independence equals homeland security.

What excites you about this campaign?

This is a grassroots effort to bring about energy independence for all New Yorkers. My campaign has always been a grassroots effort. Together, we can effect real change to make New York an even better place for future generations.

What do you want to do to help?

Hosting rallies, distributing material, linking our initiatives through my website www.ball4ny.com, and introducing legislation on behalf of the Pickens Plan on the floor of the New York State Assembly. My campaign office is always available for phone banks if need be.

Ball announces formation of 'The Putnam Pioneers'

Prior to being sworn in for his second term, State Assemblyman Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson), announced the formation of a new political action committee known as the Putnam Pioneers.

…to wait and see…or to see if someone else will step up to the plate. It is time for US to roll up our sleeves and go to work. Right now momentum is working in our favor, but if gas prices retreat, the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost.

PERSONAL ACTION OPTIONSWe need to do more than “preach to the choir”. Sharing ideas with each other is encouraging but that will not 1) increase our membership nor 2) influence public policy. If you know someone in the press or someone who blogs - get them to cover this. Ask those in the public eye to support this plan.

Check out the many groups for Solar, CNG, your area, etc. Connect, learn and share. We grow stronger with your input. If you don't see a group that speaks to your interest, then start a group of your own.
