Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I started the www.greenresearchinstitute.org and as a writer I wrote press releases and stories.
What excites you about this campaign?
for the greening of the planet
What do you want to do to help?
to collaborate with the group to start and develop www.greenresearchinstitute.org , a newly started up non-profit org in the bay area.

While the consumers are saving money by driving less due to the gas prices, most of them choose to save energy and find ways to be green. The bay area had been a hub for finding ways to live sustainably and be good to the earth. A new green company started up in the bay area this month and is spear headed by former high tech professionals and scientists.
The Green Research Institute 501c(3), a non-profit company, and their website, www.greenresearch.institute.org , will be available to the public to find resources on sustainable and energy saving resources. Its goal is to work in collaboration with other organizations in the areas of green research technology, education and policy related to sustainable energy and green related resources. It will encompass carbon-free vehicles, wind and water energy, and other sustainable and energy saving ways to use the resources of our planet. For collaborations and more services, contact Connie Dello Buono at connie.buono@greenresearchinstitute.org for Marketing and Operations , David A Rivkin PhD at david.rivkin@greenresearchinstitute.org for Technology , Rudy Stefenel at rudy.stefenel@greenresearchinstitute.org , President and Pankaj Bhardwaj at pankaj.bhardwaj@greenresearchinstitute.org for Research.

Connie, Thank you for joining the Silicon Valley Pickens Group. I am very excited that we are getting some people together here in the Bay Area. I have a few articles of interest that I would like to post but I have been very busy with work. I will post them soon. Please feel free to invite your friends to join our group. There is so much great information available to us about this and I'm thankful that you and others like us are joining together to make a difference. I walked door to door this weekend in San Jose trying to let people know that we can make a difference together.

Hi Connie........great and thanks for the comments. One source you might want to study is the way Germany's wind and solar energy blossomed. You can find a lot on the internet about Freiburg, Germany and the tariff laws that were spawned from this one small town. The thing that I like about the German approach is that it is localized and cooperatives and municipalities have been the ones to drive private investment. As an example........when driving the German country side you will come upon a small cluster of large wind turbines near a town but in farm country. These will feed the local grid not a big national grid. Then if you drive into town, you will see hundreds of homes with solar PV systems on the roofs of businesses, schools, barns, out buildings and homes. In essence, everyone sells to the local grid. This picture is duplicated many times over and over again as you drive from town to town. It is a very effective method of having everyone participate in their future. This whole scenario can be repeated here in America if we have the will and the way........"Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". Do you remember those words??? I feel that they apply more than ever today......>

Hi Connie……thank you for joining! Education is the key to knowledge, but where do we start? After you familiarize yourself with the information at this website, a wealth of additional information is available. We can look to Europe as our inspirational model for developing sustainable renewable energy. Countries like Denmark, Germany and Spain lead the way in this effort and have been there for the past 10-20 years - even more. Germany’s commitment through cooperatives and local municipalities has installed 19,000+ wind turbines and millions of solar collectors, both for solar hot water and electricity feeding the power grid.

The onshore and offshore installation of wind turbines in Denmark and Germany are producing 20% of all their electrical needs; in Spain, as much as 38% (please see examples in the photos on my page). We are 10 years behind in implementation compared to these countries!

I mention these examples to give us a direction for inspiration and point to where we could be heading with the Pickens Plan. The technology is already there and we do not have to reinvent the wheel. These are a few of the websites I would suggest you visit to see what others around the world have done and are doing:

1) The Solar Village – Freiburg, Germany. See: http://www.thesolarvillage.com/
Watch the video in the upper left corner of the page. It tells a great story.
2) The Folkecenter for Renewable Energy – Denmark.
See: http://www.folkecenter.net/gb/overview/publications/
Under VARIOUS, read: The transition from Fossil Fuels to the Renewable Energies
The whole website is excellent and you could spend hours there.
3) Google: Samso, Denmark. This is an island off the coast of Denmark that is completely
self-sustaining. http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2008/07/07/080707fa_fact_kolbert
4) Read the article written by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. titled: “Global Warming: A Real Solution”

Here are a few great videos to see: “Saved by the Sun” a PBS NOVA video, and “A Crude Awakening” by Basil Gemlpke, et al. Americans need to mobilize and pressure our government representatives both on the state and national level. The Pickens Plan is a good place to foster discussion and share ideas and PUSH this plan! We can all share in this vital common cause. Good luck in your quest for a better more secure America….. Please ask 5 of your friends to join the “PLAN”… By the way, I used to live in Los Gatos and spent a lot of time in San Jose..... Lee Ewald
