Slow come back

OK, so I know it has been a long time. A very long time but I am wrapping up my first draft of my book. I can afford to focus energy elsewhere and I am happy with some of the changes I am seeing around the world. It appears that some are taking the energy issue to heart. Car sales, for what they are, have changed to reasonable sized cars. Green jobs have gotten a good strong boost from the stimulus package and the grid is getting a good look at by those who can change it.

All in all I have to s… Continue

The Engine

As you all know, we are here to deal with changing the economy to get off foreign oil. You do know that is what we are talking about, right? We are not just talking about building wind mills and making cars to run on CNG, we are talking about moving off oil. This is a really big deal. Major. We do not have enough oil in the boarders, even if we drill everywhere in the country, to supply this country with the oil it requires. That is a simple fact. After all, there is a reason we import it, becau… Continue

Pickens Chat Post Debate

Hey all, Mr. TB Pickens is going to hold a post debate chat. If your interested in getting involved and I do encourage you to go here and RSVP.

http://push.pickensplan.com/events/event/show?id=2187034:Event:1228265

The campaigns have started to degenerated into a mud fest officially as of today. It is sad. For most of the the time up to this point, the rhetoric has been semi-intelligent. I would like to say that we have had a Lincoln-Douglas level of discussion of the issues but I can't. It ha… Continue

Post Bailout Action

As I write this the it is inevitable that the financial bail out bill will soon be pass. The Senate has prettied up the thing and now it sits in the house. They will dump some more makeup on it and, though he will probably complain about the "Pork" contained to to pacify the masses, the President will sign it. Then you and I to the tune of hundreds of billions will be stuck with the bailout.

Sad thing is that for anyone one who in any way is a scholar of history knows that we have tried this… Continue

Not Economic Crisis, Energy Crisis.

Economic Crisis or Energy Crisis

It is interesting that gas prices are inching up again but this time they are hidden by the "Newly Discovered" economic crisis. This problem is far from new. In fact the crisis started several years ago but suddenly we have been pushed over the tipping point.

Why did this occur so suddenly that every politician in the world is staring like deer caught in the headlights? Oil prices have sky rocketed in the past year. How in the world can sky rocketing oil prices… Continue

The Economic Crisis is just a Symptom of the Energy Crisis

Hi all,
some of you may know that there is a new feature to the Pickens Site. We now have a vblog for TB Pickens himself. This will be a daily video message to use letting us know what is on his mind. The latest entry, I watched this morning, discussed the economic crisis and how it is connected to oil prices. Now at first blush I think that some may scratch there head and say, but what about the mortgage crisis. What abou… Continue

Letter from Senator Murry

Letter in responce to my urging to support movement on new energy policy.

Dear Mr. Burbank:

Thank you for your letter expressing support for increased energy efficiency and reduced fossil fuel emissions. It was very good to hear from you.

Like you, I believe that increasing our use of alternative sources of energy, renewable energy resources and developing conservation and efficiency technologies will help our country meet its future energy needs.

Local Planning Commision Meeting

Last night the City of Lynnwood had a meeting of the planning commission to discuss the Energy and Sustainability component of the Growth Management act of Lynnwood. In Washington state we passed a citizens initiative was was to force the government, state, county and local, to deal with growth. We wanted to protect wild land, farmlands and green spaces. So when we passed this, all governmental offices had to draw up plans, define what all the land in their area of governance would be, how to use… Continue

Meeting with Rep Jay Inslees office

I had a hour long meeting today with Celina Cunningham of Jay Inslee's office today. He is my local Congressional rep. The meeting went very well. I am happy to say that Rep Inslee has goals that in many ways are similar to ours and the Pickens Plan. A large focus of his legislative agenda is to further Alternative Energy and Sustainability.
For those of you who are not aware, he is on several key committees around energy. They include

House Committee on Energy and Commerce
Subcommittee on Ener… Continue

The Right Side of the Bell Curve

Who is John Gault? Many people will immediately recognize this a the refrain form Ayn Rands, Atlas Shrugged. Now don't worry, I am not about to drop into some Libertarian, partisan rant. Far from it. I personally am tired of partisan politics. It has wasted the past 30 or 40 years. Maybe more. It has brought us to the brink.

Therefore what I am about to say is NOT political in nature. In fact, much of what Ayn Rand wrote can be seen an nothing more then her striking out against the attack her f… Continue

Letter from Jay Inslee on Energy

August 11, 2008

Dear Mr. Burbank:

Thank you for contacting me regarding H.R. 6049, the Energy and Tax Extenders Act. I appreciate hearing from you.

Like you I believe in providing incentives to people and companies to act in accordance with environmental values and I am always looking for ways to bring fundamental change to our country's energy policy. You will be pleased to know that language to extend through 2013, the tax credits for solar, wind and other renewable energy sources is inclu… Continue

Richard M Nixion, State of the Union 1974

...In all of the 186 State of the Union messages delivered from this place, in our history this is the first in which the one priority, the first priority, is energy. Let me begin by reporting a new development which I know will be welcome news to every American. As you know, we have committed ourselves to an active role in helping to achieve a just and durable peace in the Middle East, on the basis of full implementation of Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338. The first step in the process… Continue

Jimmy Carter, July 15th 1979. Some said Malaise, I say prophesy

http://www2.volstate.edu/geades/FinalDocs/1970s&beyond/malaise.htm

....The energy crisis is real. It is worldwide. It is a clear and present danger to our Nation. These are facts and we simply must face them.

What I have to say to you now about energy is simple and vitally important.

Point one: I am tonight setting a clear goal for the energy policy of the United States. Beginning this moment, this Nation will never use more foreign oil than we did in 1977 -- never. From now on, every new… Continue

The Real Mission, should you accept it.....

We are going to change the world.
Just a few points of reference. Movements are not exactly what they appear on the surface. They are a little more complex then simply people buying hybrid cars. They are shifts in the way people think. From an Anthropological stand point they are cultural revolutions. They are almost never pretty or smooth. They are almost always rough and there is usually a strong "Conservative" resistance. I don't mean this in current political terms, I mean this in the "I don… Continue

Rolling the Ball

Hey all,
The ball is rolling.
here is an excellent article.

Let's hit our Representatives and Senators with this and information like this. It doesn't look like they will pass the energy bill this session. No surprise there. But when they come home for their "well earned vacation" we need to make them work. Information like this can help us make our case.

We can let them know that that we INSIST that they move in this directi… Continue

Peak Oil and Beyond

As we all know Peak Oil could very well be upon us if not already past. We need to look at the remaining assets that are available to the planet and use them wisely. This is as well tied to global warming and too much carbon in the atmosphere.

As a result I have some proposals for the utilization of this diminishing resource and how they may be put to use by us all for future good of man. Most people wont like these but I believe they are well thought out and have some merit, if not to accept t… Continue

Invitation to join NW Renewable Energy Group
I have started a Regional group, welcoming comments, ideas, and suggestions for Renewable Energy in the NW Region. Including states from the Pacific, Cascade and Rocky Mountain areas. I realize that some of my Pickens Plan friends are outside this region, but you are always welcome to join and add your thoughts to the discussion. We should be looking a best available sources of energy in our region, and ways to improve the power grid to transfer energy from region to region as it is needed.

Happy New Year, DAN!

Hope we have something to celebrate in 2009! Be well. We miss you, and your nice photo, too! Where did YOU go?

Have a lovely New Years Day.

Please watch Boone's video if you have not seen it yet (link below) and see how far we have come. When will we ever have a chance like this again to become energy independant before we give this country away?

Our new Congress is sworn in less than 10 days from now - they must be told loudly and clearly that we demand action to reduce our dependance on foreign oil!

WE CAN DO THIS. THERE IS NO INFLUENCE WITHOUT NUMBERS!

"Boone Cam" recap:

Please download the petition, get them filled in and fax them back fast. If all of us do this small thing we can build this effort to millions!

Hi Dan

The clock is ticking. Both Thomas Freidman and The Gang of 20 have told us (see DAILY PICKENS) the only way to change America's energy policy is to build this historical, grass roots effort to un-ignorable heights. There are less than 75 days until Inauguration Day. We must concentrate on the job at hand. CAN YOU GET 10 signed pledges faxed in asap? Many hands make light work.

PLEASE,
Kim
