- it is what we need, development of other sources, obviously it is not wise economically or foreign relations-wise to be dependent on a single source for the majority of your energy needs. Everyone is complaining but no one is acting to start developing the other sources we can use. America has brilliant minds who are just waiting for funding to develop new technologies here. I think this will not only reduce our dependency on foreign oil but will also promote the development of new industries in the energy field and lead to an economic boom. Necessity is the mother of invention and we have the talent to do this on all fronts. Kudo to Mr. Pickens for taking charge of this. I have been promoting this idea to my three college age children and they all see the logic in having multiple streams of resources and through this multiple streams of income will also be developed.

- i will certainly, attend or write letters, email... currently i am busy with a new work project and so cannot commit to organizing groups but i will be a whirlwind attendee!! You've got a cheerleader in Orlando.

It will take some great volunteers and planning to bring off this event. So, How about a Earth Day event? The FL-24th Congressional District is seeking like minded volunteers to create a conference right here in Central Florida as an Earth Day Event, April 22nd. Not only would this be a great PR opportunity for Pickens Plan locally, but it also would be a great chance for adjoining Districts to work together. Come join with us in seeing this become a successful green energy event as well. The event is in it's planning stages and invites volunteers, businesses who would like to participate and Pickens Plan members to also join the FL-24 group. An article was posted on Topix.com at this link!! Basically, what we are attempting to do is to seek out our Federal, State and Local representatives and political leaders to join the Pickens Plan, speak publicly in support of alternative energy leading to a greater public understanding and education of the value a greener environment will be for us all. We also are seeking the sponsorship by area businesses who have a interest in a greater green public perception through this event.
Besides that, we encourage Districts all across the country to join together with your neighbors and set up Earth Day events just like we are. Anyone who would like to participate or has specific knowledge and ability in such an event undertaking, please contact the FL-24 group on what you would like to do in support of this event or to just participate by contacting business sponsors and political speakers. We can use your expertise, guidance and warm bodies too. All will be appreciated, as you know it is for a great cause. Thank you in advance. The Earth Day site has alot of information on organizing that we all could draw from and use just like the Topix article explains.
