Profile Information

Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I made my own solar water heater in high school for my dad's work shop. Worked great!
Experimented with photovoltaics
I understand the physics will help us create renewable energy- the economics will have to be built. Letting short term economics (less than 25 years) dictate this effort is foolish.
What excites you about this campaign?
Rejuvinating rural America
Keeping US money within the US and strengthening its infrastructure
Reducing dependence an influence of foreign goverments
Employing Americans in a long long term industry
Its grass roots!
What do you want to do to help?
I want to educate children in schools on the facts not the hype!!
I want to help mentor a generation that is free from oil dependence and the negative influences that it creates!!

Conservation- an outdated term?

I was raised by parents who believed that you did not spend more than you earn and you don't take more than your share. Isn't this a part of the philosophy of energy independence? Isn't this the spirit of alternative energy? No more Hummers, no more letting the spa tub run weekend in and weekend out in the winter on the deck? Or am I wrong?

We have so many luxuries here in the U.S. yet we are always burning up the miles to find more. I won't even comment on the addiction to having our children in continuous althetic events year round. So what do we do? Give up our lifestyle? Say goodbye to bigger is better? Perhaps we should consider that physical motion does NOT equal quality of life. That is what we are, a very mobile-independently mobile!- society. We drive to the store for bread. THen a different to get a good deal on frozen shrimp. We drive to the Friday night football game but we don't carpool. We then go home and order delivery pizza!

Consider the following scenario an improvement in quality of life that would also reduce energy consumption:

You drive your electric car to the local downtown community with your spouse, teenager, and his girlfriend. You speed does not surpass 50 MPH so the road noise is low enough to carry on a conversation with the occupants. Perhaps it is GPS guided so Dad can enjoy the conversation as well and take his hands off the wheel for the drive. You park at the regional parking lot and choose to walk through the public park on the way into the shopping district. As you approach the shopping district you see that the resturants all have outdoor seating that faces the well manicured park (rather than next to noisy smoky city streets). You make arrangements for dinner an enjoy the view and outdoor music. Dog walkers and frisbee chasers pass buy and the teenagers leave for the cinema. You spend the remainder of the evening window shopping art galleries and clothing stores then again meet up with the teenagers in the central arts district. You rent a cart for the shopping bags and wheel it to the car.

Let us reform our urban sprawl into small economic and lifestyle centers that require less fossil fuel and give us greater quality of life.

Solar energy provides a solid return on investment

When anybody installs solar electric generation on their home they are forced to calculate and prioritize their own energy usage. They immediately see the economic impact and learn to conserve. When a home owner pays 7cents per KWH from the utility they are never led into the same thought process.

Also consider this:

What if you purchased a solar electric system for your house instead of a BMW or a new convertible? Which pays you back?

What if all homes had solar electric generation? What wou… Continue

Free heat- its called Passive Solar

I built my home with a Southwest exposure to bring in the natural lighting in the winter and to enjoy the sun. I just had a free heating solar day 2 weeks ago.

The outside air temperature hovered between 25 and 28 Deg F all day but with full winter sun. My home stayed a sunny and cozy 72 inside and the heating never came on.

My home was not modified from a standard floor plan but I did add extra insulation to it.

This shows me that will a little extra planning we can build homes with much gre… Continue

Solar electric energy brainwashes you!

Folks,

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog. I swear I am not doing it because I am a self-centered egomaniac!

Still here?

Solar energy may not be the cure all for every energy need but married to battery and thermal storage systems it goes a long way to getting there. But why is adopting solar energy like getting a brainwashing? Simple. When you adopt solar you are forced to be the generator and the consumer!

Let's talk about solar power generation. The cost of a 10KW photovoltaic arr… Continue

Do your own research on energy- Oh wait, you don't have to!

Folks,

Our folks in goverment have been very busy over the last four decades researching all kinds of energy supplies, tools, uses and conversions. To say that America doesn't have an answer to its own energy challenges is foolish. We have many answers! Maybe too many. The point is that we taxpayers have funded thousands of studies that have produced results. The (federal) goverment is very good at research, unfortunately, not so good at re-tooling our economy from its findings.

Remember it is… Continue

Thank you for being a member of the District OH03 group. Please make sure you have sent your email letters to President Elect Obmana. Sherrod Brown, George Voinovich, and Michael Turner. We need your help to recruit new members to our District Group over the next three weeks. Please set aside some time to use the Push the Plan tools to send out invitations to your friends and family. The tools are easy to use and very effective to reach out to your family and friends. Please let me know what I can do to help you increase our membership numbers. We need to get Michael Turner's attention and a big membership group will be effective.

Hi Doug
Welcome and THANK YOU for joining Pickens Plan. We need your help.

There is a perfect storm of events happening right now that create the possibility of a paradigm shift that is urgently needed. We have an angry citizenry due to pain at the pump, a presidential election on the horizon, and a man with a plan to dramatically and imminently reduce our dependance on foreign oil, and provide a bridge to future American solutions, who has the resources, contacts, knowledge, wealth and "will" to get it done.

Please share this plan with your circle of friends, family and associates. Urge them to JOIN. As you know, it is simply like signing a petition. With large numbers of supporters, we can put pressure to bear on Congress to incentivize alternative and renewable energies, and insure that our future president will be a leader that will push for domestic energy solutions. JFK once said. "in the next 10 years we will put a man on the moon". He got it done. We need that kind of leadership on energy.

Time is of the essence. If gas prices retreat the public will forget the pain, and our moment may be lost. How frightening to be looking back and apologizing to our children that we could not get this done when we had the chance.

If you know someone in the press- get them to cover this.
If you know someone who blogs- get them to cover this.
If you can write to a Congressman/woman- get them to understand this. You can call them at (202)225-3121. Ask them if they support 100% clean electricity in the next 10 years.
If you know someone who is in the public eye- ask them to support this.
If you can write a letter to the editor of your local paper- please do.
If you want to print downloadable flyers and put them in your car and/or business window- please do.

PLEASE TAKE THE TIME TODAY to ask 5 people to join this historical effort.

Best,

We get 45 million to vote for American Idol, why can't we get 10 million to join Pickens Plan?!
