Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Maybe--But Not Sure What to Organize
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I lived through the Carter Administration. That should be enough.
What excites you about this campaign?
I told myself a few years ago I'd vote for any candidate that promised to make a Manhattan Project-class priority out of reducing energy dependence. No other single issue affects so much of our future, from the economy, to health and environment to foreign policy. However, though at least one candidate has now made this claim of prioritization, I am not confident the voters' attention will stay focused on it. Supporting this campaign, I hope, will remind our elected representatives at all levels that it must be at the top of their agendas -- every day. It's time to pay for not acting on this in 1980.
What do you want to do to help?
I don't yet know, but I'll think of something.

Toyota planning to bring mini electric to US by 2012.

“Last summer’s $4-a-gallon gasoline was no anomaly, it was a brief glimpse of our future,” Irv Miller, U.S. group vice president of environmental and public affairs for the Toyota City, Japan-based company, said in the statement today.

From the fringe...

Cynthia McKinney once represented the district where I live, a situation that at least provided some entertainment value. She's the presidential candidate for the Green Party at the moment, and here's her position on energy. Note it consists largely of taking options off the table.

Solar Energy discovery sounds promising.

A 40-fold increase in electricity from a solar cell is an exciting prospect. Thank you, M.I. T.

I built a wind tunnel and studied the characteristics. Two things happen with the baffle system. It creates a large vortex within the core (both in wind tunnel & full size) and no matter which direction the wind flows from, there are zero air flow paths against the rotation of the rotor. This removes a typical VAWT issue... the other 180 degrees that would normally have to travel against the wind. Additionally, my theories are (have only within the last couple days started building a 16 ft tall full size baffle system) that the large collection point and the fixed 'throat' of the baffle system (a ration of 6.18 to 1) will accelerate the wind. Yes overall flow rate will be reduced (as in any fluid restriction) but by placing the airfoil at the optimized acceleration point flow rate become mute (or not the concern) as the energy collected is 6.18 times as much as the 'choke point'.

Therefore, even if overall system flow-rate is halved, because the rotor is 12ft in diameter, not the diameter of the widest point of the collection system, the energy at the choke point is still 3.09 as much as the outer average windflow. Additionally, there is the possibility that a larger system can be made to even increase this effect.

With the baffle system, winds are accelerated thereby making the system more efficient. I have another design that with the baffle system installed, will be capable of 150,000 sq. feet of swept area or more. Right now the largest windmill made has 70,650. My designs are much less expensive.

I am a sole proprietor at this point, not able to apply for grants. I had a financial backer, but the stock market caused 80% of his holding to dissolve.

I have a baffle system engineered & bluprinted to meet 90mph midwest building requirements. I have another baffle system that will survive hurricane force winds, but would need a completed non-disclosure to share. Adam

Hi Fred,

Fred, I encourage you to go and meet Adam. Adam is a brilliant tech guy that has an invention of great potential. Adam needs to partner up with someone with PR, Mktg. and advertising know-how and experience.

Hi EVERY...

GOT 10?
Will you get just 10 signed pledges faxed in, asap?!

There are less than 75 days until Inauguration Day... PLEASE, get just 10 pledges. If everyone did, we would be 14 millions strong! Unlike our forefathers , we will not need to take up arms, but THIS IS OUR REVOLUTION. WE CAN DO THIS.

I look forward to hearing how it is going.

Hey everysandwich,

Please complete this sentence: Everysandwich deserves....

When you've finished with that I want to invite you to check out the Artists Round-Up group.

Because I knew of no other way to do this on this site I decided to create the project in the form of a group. Although, at least in it's beginning stages, the group is really more of a roster for artists to sign in and make themselves know to each other and to all those who are involved in the Pickens Plan than it is an actual group. It is possible though, and not unexpected, that it perhaps will sooner or later evolve into being a genuine group and doing and having as a genuine group.

For now though, I both invite and encourage you to at least go and check the group out. Once you see the set up you'll know whether it's for you or not. And if the purpose of the Artists Round-Up group does not indicate to you maybe there are others you know who might be interested. In such a cirucumstance I would, of course, appreciate your telling them about the group.

Thanks.

I assume everyone's seen this from Zaproot. I do get a little tired of people criticizing the plan because Mr. Pickens might make money. Good grief -- if I somehow solved our energy/national security situation, I'd hope to get paid for it, too. This vid adds the extra element of conspiracy theory by rolling in the water rights and imminent domain issues, and I'd like to hear someone address. If you can post a vid in response to zaproot's so much the better. Personally I hate the concept and practice of imminent domain. There are still families who resent TVA. But I admit there are times when it's simply the only option.
