Are you interested in becoming an organizer in your area?
Yes
Tell us about your experience with alternative energy:
I have invested in companies that produce alternative energy
products. I bicycle to as many errands as i can.
I ykayak on rivers and streams. I have just purchased a hybrid car.
What excites you about this campaign?
I am very proud of Boone Pickens for leading us in an alternative to the way Americans have been thinking for the last 100 years. I think the time is right to make the changes
that Boone Pickens suggest need to be made. He has the respect and power to be heard in the halls of government, local, state and national. Together we can make
achange toward alternative engergies.
What do you want to do to help?
I would like to to help Tom in any way the poeple of our Congressional district deem appropriate.

I am a retired social studies teacher. I could use may skills to talk wjth groups of citizens about the plan. Meet with government officials. Lobby for passage of legislation.

Welcome Howard,
I hope you enjoy this great site.

Boone Pickens says we send 700 Billion Dollars every year to other countries to buy oil.

We’ve put together a petition and would appreciate it if you would go take a look at it

Sign our PETITION to tell President Obama and Congress to establish Federal Private Citizen net metering regulations.

Currently the regulations that guide utility companies in allowing customers to interconnect their private alternative energy systems with the grid are established by the individual states, they are erratic across our country with some states being generous in requiring utilities to allow interconnectivity and in other states the requirement does not exist.

The federal government has established generous tax incentives to foster alternative energy growth, but those incentives will not be effective in an area where the utility is not required to allow interconnectivity. A federal regulation requiring utilities to allow a minimum of 5% of households to interconnect to the grid should be established.

The regulation should also require utilities to pay for any excess power produced by these customer alternative energy systems at the current wholesale rate, which would be a further incentive for private citizens to have these systems installed. Such regulations would encourage additional job growth in both the installation and manufacturing fields across our country.

My other site dedicated to proactive solar advocates Solar Cynosure
Thanks
Dan

Welcome !

Note: Of course I don't expect you to read all of this howard! (I just got carried away :) By all means, please feel free to skip everything except for the first and last paragraph...you might want to read those..

Here on the "PP" we have come together and circled our wagons to join with T. Boone. We're working and helping to push Boone's viable plan to get our country independent from foreign oil. It is truly a worthwhile cause and it is most definitely not a case of just doing something because we don't have anything else better to do. Accomplishing energy independence is imperative because it is not only about our survival potential in the short-term, but perhaps more importantly, it is the long-term potential consequence in consideration for those generations that follow.

The question now is..."What can I do to help?"

If you haven't already, you will soon be receiving welcomes from other members and they will be giving you a volume of info on what, where and how to help push the PP and how to get around in this vast online community. That being noted, I want you to know that what I am going to direct your attention to will probably not be coming from any of the others.

On the 17th of December 08' at 11:23 am T. Boone Pickens emailed the PP army. Within the body of that email he stated the following:

"We use more energy to heat, cool and light our homes and offices than we do to power our factories or even to drive our cars and trucks. Our country can save over 1 million barrels a day just by making our homes and offices more efficient. That's 1 million barrels we won't have to import from overseas. That's a big step in the right direction."

-Boone

So while we may not all be able to go out and directly get involved with wind farms of CNG (compressed natural gas) conversions....we do happen to live in structures that are (in most cases) consuming far more energy than is necessary. Therefore, by causing our existing housing to be more energy efficient and by insisting that any new housing be constructed so as to be super energy efficient...we can collectively effect a dramatic impact for the cause of energy independence and a blow against adverse climate change. And, very importantly, it does not have to take a long time. We can begin right now! You see, it is not only about gaining energy independence for our country, it is also very much about gaining energy independence for the individual and for helping to usher in a lifestyle, across the breadth and depth of the general population, that is SUSTAINABLE over the long-term.

Because none of can do it alone...four key concepts to keep forefront in our thoughts are....collaboration, partnership, mental flexibility and integrity. The multi-dimensional and multi-layered task that we have at hand is not only gargantuan in scope but it is deadly (a potential civilization killer). In order to overcome such a magnitude of adversity we are going to have to come together, seek out a point of common agreement and direct our collective energy and effort in an unified manner to accomplish a clearly defined goal. If we remain disbursed in our intentions and attentions and individuate form one another and behave as independent and arrogant tribes....then it is inevitable that we will lose across the boards. If anyone finds this difficult to accept then I invite them to look at our world history and note the many civilizations that have already come and gone. What makes our current civilization any different? ( never say never and never say it is not going to happen here or it is not going to happen to me because it does happen and it happens every day). The reality we have at hand is the result of so many of us insisting that "it is my way or the highway." Or, assuming the attitude of, "I'll just go and watch this play out from up in the bleachers." And, as I think we will agree...the reality we are now embroiled in really SUCKS!

Things have a way of moving slowly until it is too late. And at that point it IS too late.

I strongly encourage you to join the SEE Super Energy Efficient Housing for Existing and New Homes Group. And if you don't join, I encourage you to at least drop in every now and then and check out the develpments.

Thank You for your time and attention. Oh, by the way, there is a small x up in the right hand corner of this comment. Click the x and you can delete this comment from your comment wall.

Hi Howard,

Welcome. We appreciate you setting up an active account.

After you've had a chance to settle in, please let me know if there's anything I can do to help. The basic first steps are reviewing the current topics in the Forum, and inviting others to the website when you're comfortable. The people here want to do something to foster energy independence and those you invite will find that joining us is the right thing to do.

I have this list on my page, but here are further steps you might consider, some of which you may have already taken.

- Check out my blogs for more info, especially "Stimulus Package"
- Sign up to lead or volunteer on the Local District page.
- Visit your My Energy page and get involved.
- Get involved with others in your City or State.
- Find and connect with a like-minded Group.
- Start or join a Campus/Alumni group at PickensU.
- Work your contacts to increase press coverage.
- Write to congressional representatives directly.
- Use Action buttons or call Congress: 202-225-3121.
- Speak out for ending our dependence on foreign oil.
- Write letters to the editor of your local paper.
- Download flyers/etc from here or here.
- Download the Petition and ask others to sign it.
- Start a company to build wind turbines/solar panels.
- Start a financing firm to invest in those companies.
- Tell everyone you know about PickensPlan.com.

Decide for yourself what you can do, but definitely do something.

FYI: Got a message for T. Boone? Contact your Regional Leader

Welcome once again and thanks for signing up.
Clynton
